The extent of trauma and socialization we have as Kenyans highly reflects on the discipline measures effected,most believe in punishment first, sprinkled with anger and marinated in verbal abuse

This is the unfortunate truth. And especially so because its a vicious cycle passed down from one generation to another.

African mother's way to say sorry: Siwewe nimechapa nimechapa makosa😅 It's also good to tell your children why you have punished them. After beating them don't go silent try to strike a conversation with them or engage with them.

Exactly! Communication is key! Punishment without communication is just abuse.

My mum’s beating was abuse. It adversely affected my relationships when i became older. I knew violence was the only way to be heard. When i think about it, i always shed a tear! I am not a parent yet, but please if you need some time to heal before getting babies, please do and get therapy 🙏

You guys handled this sensitive topic very well. Self control and emotional awareness is key in my view. We need to consider the age of the child and their personality type when deciding what type of discipline to met out. My son is a pleaser and sensitive so I chose time outs and talking rather than spankings. I only spanked him maybe 3 times in his life and now he's a well adjusted adult. The only times I spanked my child were when he did things with friends that he knew were wrong. Like breaking the water meter glass or sneaking up on the neighbours house. Some kids however have different personality types and also carry different spirits. Like the spirit of kindness, boldness, jealousy, envy, entitlement, consideration, empathy, people pleasing, servitude, others have psycopathic tendencies that cause them to harm animals, pets, other children and to be destructive. This is what makes disciplining especially for step parents a challenge. Loved the studio set up and your babies are growing so fast and beautiful. 🎉❤ congratulations 🎊

I love this video. Very eye opening. It just hit me I wasn't disciplined much as a child and I see my daughter doesn't need much disciplining as well. She listens well ❤

On Kitt's channel her mom asked "if you practise gentle parenting, why are the kids not gentle?" 😂 I personally think it depends with the child. There are some who respond to beating others respond to other forms of discipline anyway I am waiting for your opinion on this.

That's a really good question. I beleive every form of parenting when taken to the extreme can be detrimental. Whether it's gentle parenting or a stricter one.

I watched a video by Celestine with paediatrician Dr. Wachira where he explained that there are things children learn faster from their fathers or father figures being present compared to their mothers because they view mum as first a source of food and comfort and it's hard for them to see past that to learn things. Hence why fathers are needed to step in and bridge that gap and teach those things. I hope I'm making sense

Great work there! This is taken me down memory lane hilariously. With my Level 5 curiosity, I'm grateful my mother administered spanking. My father on the other hand never lay a finger on me which I've never understood. This phenomenon is shared also amongst my friends where we wonder, are mothers generally responsible for spanking?
@SoilaandCurtis
@SoilaandCurtis Жыл бұрын
Hey Briano. Yeah, it happens like that at times. I also think discipline is also dependent on the personality of the parents. Sometimes one tends to be more of a disciplinarian than the other.

For me I wasn’t caned Though my siblings were 🤭 I was somehow very agreeable personality wise from a young age and also I was aware how conflict looks like and I was sure I never wanted to be on the other side of the consequences Mostly for me a talk would help and I didn’t need canning for direction which my parents didn’t use but they did discipline my siblings Love this conversation and thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful home ❤️ God bless

But growing up i experienced such harsh beating being the first born and being blamed for my sister's mischievousness cause i was the first born hata akiumia nachapwa it was so bad. But verbal abuse was much worse, i think for me when it'll come to disciplining my kids ill just use words unless a cane is needed and also jold each child accountable for their misgivings. But i agree with discipleship,its very key and eye opening.❤

Even in school, we were beaten abused but we turned out okay however, I have realised that my nieces, nephew and little beasties fear me coz am harsh. This reality has changed the way I interact with them. My behaviour to them was moulded by the way I was brought up.
