To Catch A Predator: A Nashville Quandary

3 жыл бұрынIt feels like yesterday when we all thought the Nashville Predators were Stanley Cup contenders. It also feels like they became an afterthought in that conversation just as fast. Despite their past sheen, the Predators have a combination of long-time issues that have been unsolved and new dilemmas that have emerged.
Nashville is in a very tough spot: They still don't want to lose the hope of being playoff contenders, but reality is coldly reminding them that the way their roster is constructed isn't going to do it. In this video, the quandary of the Predators will hopefully be explained in a way that will make sense to those that are new to the situation.

Thank you. This was needed. Everything you said here spoke truth. This team is quite literally slamming into a brick wall full force and its extremely painful to watch as a fan. The incompetence of Poile and Hynes combined is too much for the team. We NEED to fire them asap and see what happens before trade deadline...if nothing happens...blow it the fuck up...just please keep forsberg, he is the only saving grace of this team, maybe will help with veteran leadership in the rebuild

A year later and they get swept by the Avs after rolling the dice on forsburgs last year. They not only failed to make a deep playoff run, but they will also get nothing when he walks away after this season as an unrestricted free agent. Gambling on a long shot meant they didn't trade him, so essentially they lost twice with their poor performance.

Arvidsson was on a 50 goal pace two years ago. Nashville has some great players in their core in Arvidsson, Forsberg, Ellis, Ekholm, and Josi. Trading them would not only give them a king's ransom, but would also put them on winning teams instead of letting their careers rot away there.

Ellis and Josi will likely find a buyer as long as salary is retained. Foresburg will fetch an excellent return if he doesn’t flee in free agency. Ekholm should also fetch a strong return given his contract. Arvidson and Duchane maybe but significant sweeteners like Fabbro, Tomisino, or Tolavinnen will need to be added to get a good haul

Crushed? If anything, the Preds overachieved in that series and made all of us proud at the turn around. The one thing the Preds lack is the same thing every year an elite offensive talent to finish on 5v5 and the PP. They gave the Canes a fight in four consecutive overtimes and watched with delight to see them ousted by the Bolts.

Loved the analysis on that Preds power play. I hadnt seen them play in awhile but the lack of guys moving their feet and lack of puck movement makes it nearly impossible to move defenders out of position. Its like theyre still trying to do the same thing they did back when they had Weber and all those other heavy shooters from the point.

Something is so internally wrong with the team that the only real move is to detonate everything. Fire hynes make Poile retire and trade everybody that isn't Josi, Forsberg, Ellis, Grimaldi, Rinne, Saros, Granlund, or Ekholm maybe Duchene he tries hard but always fails.

No this video hasn’t aged. Even for the run they made to get back into the playoffs last year, Ellis, Arvidsson, and Rinne are gone. They’ll likely be blowing it up in February.

Just as soon as the song reached the chorus, play resumed and the music was cut. The fans inside the Enterprise Center, however, continued singing. You gotta make a Canucks video. Vancouver is 3 points ahead of Ottawa with 2 more games played. They're arguably an even bigger trainwreck than Nashville. At least the Preds made the cup final, the Canucks made the playoffs in a Covid shortened season and thought they were elite, only to get rid of many of the important players due to cap issues. They had one playoff series win, that's it.
