I’m loving these reviews my friend, I’m an old duffer who’s pretty much set in his ways as far as pipe tobacco goes because if a tobacco pleasures the smoker well that makes a man content but I’m starting to experiment a bit more with different tobacco’s but I have found that Gawiths cherry and vanilla is a lovely smoke in my opinion I’m also a fan of Erinmore too. I’m a big fan of the dr plumb pipes but there I go again I’m set in my ways and recently just bought another dr plumb Quintex and I’ve just ordered another dr plumb dinky number nine as I’m out and about all day every day and they are good for the jacket pocket and a great hand warmer for out great British winters. Have you ever tried Kendal blacktail twist now to me that stuff is hardcore. My grandfather and my uncles smoked it, typical old Dalesman, who I’d remember them cutting a bit off then cutting it again before rolling it in their hands before packing their pipes. It’s far to strong for me and makes me want to spit on every draw but it’s like anything horses for courses, but one every pipe smoker should at least try just to say they’ve tried it.

Thanks. I too am behind on real reviews seems like I only get the Friday drive by aromatic ones posted nowadays. I have never had this blend despite my devotion to English. Mine tin is aging right now. Lighter uh? May not trip my trigger then. But the Oriental forward sounds appealing nonetheless . Yes a very hard blend to secure. Nice posting.

I'm more into full flavored English blends but I remember when I started out going off aromatics I tried squadron leader. It was a nice bright, mild smoke. My tastes have changed and I'm currently working my way through yet another tin of G.L. Pease Odyssey.

I am leaning towards lighter Latakia blends as the Latakia can hurt my palate for days after a serious session.

Good review. As a non English smoker, this is one of my favorite English blends.

A good smoke, but ir is one of those I'll smoke if I got it, but it is rather difficult to find!

Good review. I have the same opinion about this blend as you do. It's because of the availability of the blend I prefer EMP and other lighter English blends.

If you have an opportunity, I look forward to you doing a review on Stoved Virginia. I bought a few oz's and I'm experimenting with it.

Hi Spurgeon ! I am a new piper that ordered Squadron Leader. It showed up unsealed with a stamp “Kendal Tobacco 21 332”. Now I’ve read reviews where it typically shows up on the wet side and I assume sealed…is this common ? Many thanks 🙏🏼 Kurt

Squadron Leader is a pleasant smoke, but for me, not every day. Easy to get hold of here in Sweden. Pricey though. More like around the 27-30$ mark. But that's the situation with almost all tobacco here in Sweden.

Always wanted to try but every time I want to buy it's out of stock. Absolutely love Presbyterian mixture was hoping this was similar but being not as oriental forward maybe I'll rethink purchasing 🤔

Thanks for the review Wilson. I found SQL to be too moist out of the tin as with nearly all SG blends. Other English blends which I find more pleasurable include, Consummate Gentleman (Ashton), Accountant's Mixture (Rattray's) and White and Black (Solani 763). I'd be interested in your take on these blends if you haven't tried them. Best, Paul

What is the date code on the tin? The sticker, usually on the side on the form ##-###. I’ve noticed tins I’ve been getting are 1-2 years old when I receive them. I love Squadron Leader.
