Tobin & Christen are the gold standard for athlete couples, regardless of orientation, who want to have a close relationship privately. Not easy for the social media generation, who can't even soft-launch new relationships without getting their privacy invaded. Also... Glennon Doyle sounds so much like Sarah, I was confused for a bit while she was interviewing T&C. 😂

There are some couples who are great together. But I believe that these two were made for each other i.e. the Universe conspired to bring them together. I also love that they’re so private and discreet. It shows people that there are many different, equally valid and beautiful ways to conduct relationships in the queer community.

Preath has been real all this time, and we've known it. I love them. They are my absolutely favs in the entire woso... what they want to share with us is perfect. As fans, we need to protect and respect them. The fact that they're public figures doesn't mean they have to share their entire life.

It seems those of us who always hoped Preath was real, but didn't know for sure, simply hoped that it was the worst kept secret ever. We hoped because being public figures is hard and love is hard, so we wanted them to have each other. But that's the point. They weren't trying to keep their relationship a secret: they wanted to keep it private. They didn't have to say anything, so the bonus for us is to see how two thoughtful people work at happiness within their relationship. Thank you for the summary! Great stuff.

Yesterday I listened to your show on Tobin and Christen. To me, they live in a Zen moment. I trust because of this, they'll be together for a long time. When I think of them, I constantly focus, and have flashbacks of how they look at each other. One can literally see and feel their love. It's real... folks.❤ Ladies, thanks for your coverage.

I listened to the episodeas soon as it came out. I love "We can do hard things", and I was obsessed by this double date. So awesome how Chtisten and Tobin opened up on their relationship, soccer as well as their business. Christen and Tobin are such an amazing and intentional couple!

I always come back to what I've done with my relationships. When I was in my 20s I had to be careful because, I could've been fired, we could've been denied housing, or barred from seeing my partner in the hospital. Life actually got easier, but I still wasn't comfortable with standing on a soapbox and saying "we are a couple". By the time I met my current partner of almost 30 years, I was pretty open at work in that I talked about her as I would have talked about a member of my family that I lived with. It got to the point where, if they didn't know I was gay, they just weren't paying attention.

Hello Sarah and Sara. I watched and commented on their channel at the time of the World Cup. Good luck to them for wanting to pursue business ideas rather than just earning from celebrity. Their relationship is what they make it, but it is interesting that they seem to me quite different characters but they are a team. I did feel they were very into how the US team used to win in large part by athleticism, but that they were still focused on that, which to me will need to be something developed in players with the best skill, tactical awareness and ability to read the game rather than trying to teach that to athletes going forward, for US not to fall behind countries with longer football traditions and commented that they could look at encouraging investment to take young US talent overseas to develop and bring back that experience. I gave the example of how English male football has learned from Spain in recent years.

I was never a Preath stan, some people be crazy, but I've thought they're a cute couple and happy they're still together. If people wanna be public and open, that's their choice, but privacy is also good and fans should respect it.

I dunno if I totally agree with angle of this stance they're communicating, or rather I see it as a reflection of progress in society. I'm in my late 40's, I grew up with no Queer role models other than the Indigo Girls (yes, it was rough). We were desperate for models of Queerness in Pop culture and thus spent a lot of time doing identity work while are heterosexual peers didn't have to explore who they were in the same sense. We Watched A LOT of bad movies we were so desperate. Preath is a bit younger than I, & I actually see their position being one of privilege to an extent, as they are reaping the benefits of all the hard work we put in, paving the way for them to be PRIVATE famous ppl in the way they're describing. I do on some level get that privacy is sacred but fame & spotlight are a privilege & in my generation LGBTQIA+ ppl couldn't help but be political because we didn't have the same rights or validation as straight ppl, so much so that when Queer ppl on the rare occasion reached such fame public status they felt a near obligation to represent because so few of us were allowed through that door. So, I think it's a little more complicated than they're making it out to be. They didn't choose to be closeted for sake of safety like we often had to in past generations, they chose to keep it on the down low for selfish reasons (not selfish in the traditional sense of the word but more so "protective" for personal love reasons, like I wanna keep that little something close to my heart). You can be out, but the PROUD part is where personal definition gets more nuanced. We also don't know how "out" they were in their private lives, did they attend Pride marches? Go to gay bars? Public holding hands? etc. I mean, in the public eye they kept it more like a traditional "Boston Marriage" (young ins look it up) but I think being Queer Role Models just wasn't their gig. Maybe it's not for everyone? I think the beauty of the Gay Liberation movement is we paved the way for ppl not to be publicly out in the media but still be "out" like straight heteronormative ppl get to experience, they don't have to talk about it or "come out" officially, they just walk down the dang red carpet holding hands & it's given & even no big deal we all know y'all are together. That's the progress to an extent that we were fighting for. So, yr welcome Preath.

I know this is going to be an unpopular point of view. I really wanted to love it, but it just fell very short for me. Why? I felt very much like major ground rules (topic boundaries) were established in advance and any hope for discussions with deeply introspection was dashed. We’ve waited nearly a decade to hear from them as a couple, so this felt like they were cracking the door open slightly and sticking a toe in the water. So, in that vein, I wish they didn’t do the podcast at all. They could have maybe waited longer until they felt they could be more open, vulnerable, and have a deeper, more meaningful conversation; or maybe went on the record using a different medium; or just keep it as is with no intentions to speak publically. Glennon’s podcast is usually so deep, that this felt rather empty. Lastly, I felt Tobin was doing this against her will - I just got the vibe that Christen was way more into it and because of this, Tobin came off as odd and unlikable.

I think this a very healthy way of not just looking at things but also navigating through life itself. Just because so many people are doing it this or that way doesn't mean it will work for you. Then them choosing to it there way is not just beautiful and brave but almost an act of defiance. Saying to the world this is how we live and if you don't like it, fuck off

I still don't know why they couldn't acknowledge their relationship publicly and then remain private. And that has nothing to do with being queer or straight. No, they don't have to "in your face like Pinoe" and not right away. But I do find it weird that they just didn't acknowledge their relationship - that it exists.

I don't really follow famous people, it's just not my vibe, but I am interested in hearing what's going on time to time in woso so obviously I watch Sara & Sarah. I did really like everything but I'm just so hung up on Christen not watching sports. Do we know why she's 23? I always assumed it was a Michael Jordan thing. I mean national team sometimes the players have different numbers than club since club you can pick any number 1-99 but Christen has picked 23 consistently. But maybe it's more a reflection that I like basketball that I thought this at all 😅
