Every wanted to take your simple line work to the next level? Well here is a really simple technique to build on your beautiful sketch, with texture, shape and character - all with some lovely loose hatching.
In this practical step-by-step guide I'll talk you through my processes for simplifying a complex reference, using interesting line work to bring it to life, adding tone and fun with more pen techniques, before splashing on some lovely watercolours in a few easy steps.
Remember, you don't have to draw everything in a reference photo, or in the scene in front of you! I'll show you how I manipulate the reference to suit my style and my mood - and hopefully give you the confidence do to the same for your sketching!
Right at the end, if you stick with me, I'll give you some top tips on controlling those splatters to get the effect that you want (without that scary am I going to ruin everything moment we all feel!).
