I saw Todd in the late 90's while he was on tour for "All Right Guy". He got to the last song and said that his Father had just died and they had been on tour and most of the rooms were half empty. We were in a small concert bar and you couldn't move in the place. He looked up at the ceiling and said "Thanks Dad". He played 3 hours straight and ripped the roof off the place. Got 4 encores, got in his bus and left. Been a fan ever since.

I will never forget the time I seen Jerry Jeff it was in Eureka California and I was right in the middle of the Eagle House Hall, And Jerry Jeff come out and played? About the time Gypsy Songman came by out and he opened the show with Gypsy Songman! And he played every song I knew,! and he played his last song was a song I never heard before! And I will never forget that song? He sang with so much passion and I remember that I seen a few teardrops fall down his face and I was so impressed and he played id this really worth it, laying my life on the lines

One of the things that is so wonderful about this performance - so f'ing amazing in a time where performers are so much about themselves - is the deference that Todd and Amanda give Jerry Jeff. Watch as they stay very much to the side. Look at how they follow him with their eyes and play in support. This is his moment and they do everything they can to ensure that it stays that way.

Yup, I just love it when the 'upstart young'uns' give that due respect to their mentor elders! I am a BIG Todd (and DBT/Isbell) fan, but I was into JJ, Townes, Guy, Billy Joe, Ray Wylie, et al, WAY before he was even born. ;) If I recall correctly, I believe that Amanda played fiddle at one of the very many Slaid Cleaves shows I've attended (and NO I am NOT confusing her with Jenny Scheinman who I have also seen backing up Slaid's live shows on fiddle), but I've lost track, so not sure. I will admit though, I welled up a bit watching this one!

Now Charlie Pride. Damn. Well, the only upside to all the loss is that the tradition of singer songwriters continues on through the music of Todd Snider, John Moreland, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Hayes Carll, Morgan Wade, Cody Jinks, Arlo McKinley, Benjamin Tod, Sierra Ferrell, Cary Ann Hearst, Casper Allen, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires, Steve Earle, Jon Dee Graham, and a shit load more that I just can't think of right now. Those just happen to be some of my favs. If you haven't heard of some of those names, go search them out. You will probably not be disappointed. I hear people all the time say that no one is making good music any longer...mostly people in their late 40's are older though. Anyway, it's the farthest thing from the truth. There's more music in general being made than ever before in human history. A lot of its great and super accessible. Okay, diatribe over!

Considering that Jerry co-wrote the theme song for ACL, it adds yet another level to the amazing convergence of talent that night. I most likely would have been in tears if I had been there.

First remember hearing JJW 40 years ago in a little college bar where the barkeep played country music in the afternoon when no customers were around (except me). Got to sit a bout 15 feet from him in a small theater about 2 years ago. Ran across Snider listening to internet radio and fell in love with 'Tillamook County Jail.' Gonna have to see him live. Great pleasure seeing these two together. Jerry is getting on in years. A Man Must Carry On.

Awesome and a half. I have loved JJW and Bojangles since I was fifteen, that was in mid sixties. He befriends Oregon grown Todd Snider and I think he's great too. You can see the admiration in Todd's eyes as he shares the stage with HIS hero. He's a lot of people's hero
