@NikkiC777

@@martinwhite418 That is your opinion. I do not agree with it. My opinion is that if it is a case where it is very obvious who committed the crime, and it was a crime where the perpetrator intentionally killed the victim in a brutal, violent, sadistic way, then I feel that the death penalty is appropriate. The victim does not get to go on living, and she was only 20 years old. The criminals shouldn't get to go on living either. I am sure they won't get the death penalty though, not in this case, but they should. They'll get some extremely weak sentence and then they'll be back out by the time they're 35, free to go out and commit more crimes, and leech off society. Edit: I don't think the death penalty should be used unless it is a case where there is so much evidence that there is no question as to who committed the crime. Those guys in this video are definitely guilty. There are cases where there is more of a question about the guilt of a suspect. In a case like that I would not want them to get the death penalty either.

@Nikki C So we punish people who are "really" guilty with the death penalty, and we send people who are "probably sorta guilty" to prison for life. Sounds fair, that's not what U.S. law says, but we will just go with your version.

You know unfortunately that isn't going to happen bcse they are young WM; No matter how agregious their behavior was afterwards. The judges aren't going to be willing to throw their future away and will see this as 1 poor decision. Even though, they attacked multiple people. Her family will have a lifetime of anguish and they'll get some crazy sentence of 5yrs or less if any. These sentences are always minimal only when the offender is Brad or Chad and non-existent if the victim is non-white. We saw this on Jan 6 and there are numerous other cases. If you actually believe in the nonsense then your god did, in fact, let this happen. Oh.... I hear ya "the good lord works in mysterious ways" but prayer is less than useless. Make a casserole for them or something... at least that's real and takes some minimal amount of effort. True story: one of my sons died when he was a few days shy of his 19th birthday... some god freak said this to me "Well, he's now in a much better place... there's some comfort in that." I'll admit that it wasn't my finest hour but I punched him several times in the face and body... hurt my hands quite a lot. Was arrested, detained but released about 10 - 12 hours later. No charges were followed through on.... bit of luck, that. Thank god, right? 🤣🤣🤣 Be careful what you say to people who are grieving... particularly the grief experienced by the loss of a child. It's "next level" grief.... again; not my finest hour but I don't actually regret it one bit.

My daughter was hit in the head at a school bus stop by a palm sized rock. A crazed girl decided to throw a handful of rocks in the air every time a car approached... on the first day of school, no less. One badly aimed rock came straight down on my daughter's head and caused a nasty injury. A similar incident occurred a few weeks later, when a different group of kids were throwing rocks at cars while standing on a street corner. It's funny how quickly that behavior stops when you press charges. Real quick. Cops said the kids were practically crying when they showed up. But this is what you have to do. Word gets around quickly, and kids change their behavior. But society is too concerned with feeling sorry for the perpetrators as the first reaction.

This reminds me of the time when I was driving home from high school and someone threw an unopened can of Coke out of their car at my windshield. Our cars were going around 45 mph in opposite directions. The can went completely through my windshield. Fortunately it went through the center of the windshield and landed on the backseat of the minivan, where no one was sitting. What a mess. I, or my passenger, would have been seriously injured if that pop can had actually hit one of us. So dangerous. Also, the can was still full when it hit the seat, so it's not like it weighed significantly less after it went through the windshield. My mom was so pissed. First at us, thinking that we did it, and then at the asshole who did it when she realized it wasn't our fault.

Good evening, Dr. Grande! Unfortunately, incidents such as these are common and usually remain open and unsolved cases. Usually, they occur when people thrown rocks off of bridges over streets, expressways and thruways, and the scumbags (if caught, which is rare) claim that they didn't mean to hurt anyone. Frequently, the scumbags are children or teenagers, and, if caught, rarely do much, if any, time. At least in Rochester, New York. Fortunately, scumbags usually have cell-phones with which they share their experiences with others, which can be used for their apprehension. Yes, they wanted to cause destruction. And, if it leads to fatalities, should earn them good, several decades-long stretches in a hell-hole of a prison. Now, THAT'S entertainment! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent as always. Dr Grande is the only commentator I’ve seen who has given any attention to the nature of the stone. The term “teenagers throwing rocks at cars” can give someone with just a passing glance a wholly incorrect mental image. The “rock in question”..from the one photograph with a scale that I saw..had about cubic size of a large brick but being granite considerably more weight…5 or 6 pounds. See how far YOU could throw that. So no, their vehicles passed close together, however briefly, at night, and this great beach cobble was launched specifically at the windscreen of a car going perhaps 70 miles an hour. Viewed in that way the death of the driver was clearly a realistic possibility… either being struck by the stone in the head or upper body…almost instant death…or causing the driver who was NOT struck to nevertheless lose control of the vehicle at high speed and crash, again with a realistic risk of death and almost certain risk of serious injury, including blindness from flying glass causing them to,lose control and drive into oncoming vehicles, possibly killing others. I agree with Dr GRANDE…a long prison term is called for and if the prosecutor is going to have trouble getting a “.murder” conviction then charging them with each crime separately and ordering consecutive terms in prison is the way to go. How is this different from shooting at cars with a long gun “just to scare em” and hitting the driver in the head?

I’m sorry, but there have been NUMEROUS fatal incidents Involving someone throwing a rock or some other object into traffic and striking a person in a vehicle, causing the death of the person. The news coverage of these cases was broadcast nationally and repeatedly. The risk of killing a person by throwing objects into traffic is very well known, especially in the internet age. These boys knew what they were doing and what they had been responsible for after they watched that girl’s car drift off the road, and decided to take a photo of her mangled car and possibly her body to keep as a “memento.” IMO, that absolutely shows a grave indifference to human life and the consequences of their actions were not as devastating to them as it should have been. The fact that they all turned on each other is just another example of the lack of empathy and compassion for the people affected by the moronic decisions they made. All of them were old enough to know better, and should have to pay the price accordingly.

While I'm inclined to agree with you that mobs empower people to do bad things, the two men who conducted the "Stanford Experiment" were early pioneers of no jail/prisons, and defund the police back in the late 60's and early 70's. Two French researchers went through the exhausting recordings and notes, and found that the violent behavior of the "guards" was promoted and coerced in order to have violent, negative incidents which could then be in turn used as "proof" that incarceration and laws created more problems than they solved. The findings of the two French people can be found with a quick Google search.

They even had the spine to drive to the field. Most of the time, in these situations, you'd find out they're alright. The few other times, you just might save their life. It's too bad the friend's searching wasn't in time to render aid, if it would have even been possible to save her life. That's just another factor that goes for a more severe sentence for the boys. They never even tried to call for help. If they were just thinking about causing 'mischief' you'd think they freak out when the car went so far off road and call for help, hoping and praying it wouldn't be a serious injury or death. I wonder if they were so dumb they didn't think someone would get killed, or maybe one or more of them was hoping that death or severe injury would eventually occur and that's why they kept going out and doing it. And taking a photo? Makes me think at least one was satisfied with her death. I just can't imagine they'd not think of death and paralysis throwing such large rocks at such high speeds at cars, even if just a crash after the rock broke a windshield. I mean, throwing the rocks out of a moving car at a car going the other way was to get as much velocity as possible in the first place. They were clearly going for as much carnage as possible. They probably kept upping the ante every time they went out. I just can't believe they were that stupid that they didn't think this would happen, especially so three.

The same happened to me in the early 2000s in San Diego. My windshield exploded while driving southbound in my work truck on the 163 approaching the 8. Suddenly, a 2 x 3in hole appeared in the windshield at head level on the driver's side but nothing penetrated into the cab. I remember seeing nothing, then a fog of glass particles filled the cab and glistened in the morning sunlight, almost in slow motion. My eyes protected by my sunglasses I began checking my body for damage, I'm alive, and continued toward my exit traveling at 75mph. Holy shit, my heart was beating fast! I thought that something must have bounced off the roadway but thought it was unusual that I didn't see the bounce happen. Later the company owner sent a repair truck to replace the glass while I worked my job in an SD highrise doing my daily grind as an electrician. It was months later that I found out that people were throwing rocks onto the expressways here and someone had been struck but I can't be sure of the extent of the damages. I got lucky (yet again). I'm alive.

This is purely an evil act. Nobody should try to minimize it by categorizing it as a prank. Hopefully, the family of the young girl and other victims would receive appropriate justice.

Spitting (or squirting ketchup and mustard, as in a Simpsons episode) at cars from an overpass, maybe throwing snowballs at them, those could be considered "pranks". Throwing or dropping big rocks clearly has the intent of causing serious damage and injury or death.

10:50 You'd be surprised how much damage a pebble can do. My Mom got hit by one that came off a dump truck going the other direction, this was several years ago on Hwy 93. The little itty-bitty pebble hit her windshield right at the A-pillar, spraying Mom with glass, and actually tore through the sheet metal. Mom freaked out, but managed to safely pull over ad stop. Good thing she was wearing sunglasses. Took her about 20 minutes to gather herself before proceeding. That pebble could've hit her right between the eyes, instead of going past her head by an inch.
