This toddler overheard a conversation between her dad and her elder sister where he scolded her. However, the toddler didn't like the way he spoke to her teenage daughter and decided to take matters into her own hands. She firmly told her dad that she was upset about how he handled the situation and tried to preach him to do better with the grace of God.

If a child doesn't make you a better person, nothing will. Children are God's gift to you. You can see yourself through them and provide them with the things you lacked as a child. It's your chance to heal and not an opportunity to inflict your pain upon them.

@vladn6031
@vladn6031 4 ай бұрын
@@DeborahSch Raising 5 children doesn't make you good at it. I can see clearly amongst my people I know, kids (now adults) in families with authoritarian fathers are more unhappy and insecure. If maintaining your authority is your main priority in your relationships with kids, you're not going to have a good relationship with them. Of course you can still believe that you do, but that's another problem. Like someone here said, the kid feels safe enough to express herself. I wouldn't dare do it in my family when I was a kid, because of sheer fear, not because of respect. Respect is earned by being a good example, not by shutting your kids down when they dare speak up. The kind of parenting that you think is good leads to raising anger repressors who can't stand up for themselves. And then they'll be obsessed with authority in relationship with their children because they're insecure.

I really admire how assertive she is and standing up for herself. She obviously felt hurt when her Dad had scolded her teenage sister. Even a small child can pick up negative emotions like this and it still hurts them. I totally respect the father to react so humbly and calm, and I absolutely love that the child dares to speak her mind, but I think her attitude is not really respectful. I'm not advocating a authoriarian style of parenting at all, but still, children should understand that there is a difference in how parents speak to children and how children speak to parents. After all, parents are the ones who are responsible, and children at that age do not understand everything, so they have to rely on their parents' good judgment many of times.

He has no reason to feel ashamed. To allow your children to have a voice (as long as they are respectful, in which case, this lil precious soul definitely was) is a good thing. To actually *listen* to your children and take heed to what they're saying is a humbling act that can only benefit the entire family and the family dynamics. For her to be able to respectfully and compassionately speak to her father says a great deal about his parenting. He has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Beautiful lesson of humility and beautiful lesson of how we all can listen and learn...... from the mouths of babes. 🥀

I have a goddaughter who is that age at the moment, so I know what I'm speaking about. I also know a lot of children and teenagers privately and have worked with kids since 2004. Yes, sometimes they seem to be very smart and wise, but if you know a thing or two about child development, you truly understand what kids at any age can do and cannot do. If you don't understand that, you might expect too much of them, which can have serious negative consequences on their psyche.
