I have made some fireworks with toilet paper rolls this past 4th of July . Turn out pretty neat . I also saw someone else make some Dandelion Puffs using some Q Tips in bunches and some apple blossoms ... They were beautiful also ... :)

Why gesso vs white paint?

hey there clar0463...i like the chalky feel of the gesso...you can certainly use acrylic paint...try using different colors too! so fun! see you on the table!

that will work....also you can cut the toilet paper roll, remove a section and then tape it together...that will create a smaller 'puff' and might be a bit easier than starting from scratch with the cardstock...purely a suggestion...see you on the table! LM

After completing the painting what is to be used for final layer - is it varnish or mod podge

Naghasundharam Ambur Ganesan i did not seal this with anything. If i were to seal it i would probably use a clear spray acrylic. I hope this helps! See you on the table na!

She means background pieces. She then paints, inks, gesso, applies more media, etc.

a substrate is whatever you are building your art on..canvas, canvas board, wood, paper...whatever you can get your hands on jmsl! i hope that helps! go create, go play, go have fun!!!

i like the dry, matte appearance of the gesso lec....acrylic can be used of course....go create, go play, go have fun!!!!!

gesso is like a primer...it can be used in texture...it can be used first on a piece to make paint stick better...i enjoy gesso because it creates a 'matte' surface and i can sand it ...acrylic sometimes peels off when i sand it tfs...gesso can be used as a glue too...yikes...more confusing information tfs! lol...sorry....go create, go play, go have fun!!!
