Some of my fondest memories of living in Japan are the local festivals. They have them throughout the year, so to anyone planning a visit, it so worth it to do a little research and find out if there are any going on near where you'll be. They are a great chance not only to get a taste of the local culture and cuisine, but to sample other regions or even other countries. They often have parades, dances, fireworks and other activities to go along with them. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

I read that Japan stopped having trash cans in public areas, because there was a "Trash Can Bombing" in a subway, so they wanted to prevent "Trash Can Bombings" in the future.
@onlyinjapanGO
@onlyinjapanGO 4 жыл бұрын
Not entirely true. Japan is 100% a reactive culture - when something g happens, they pivot fast and stop it for everyone. But they realized that without trash cans, the areas were cleaner! (1) birds (crows) and rats didn’t infest the area (2) people cleaned up after themselves better than the city staff would. People carry their own trash home. Convenient stores are also the public trash cans and recycle ♻️ but train station all have trash and recycle bins. The public streets rarely do.

I did not see any soup (grrr) but they had lots of dishes with onion being the key ingredient. To this day I still talk about this to my Japanese friend in how good the experience & food was. She is bored of me by now, but seeing the Onion food stall in this video was so exciting. Thank you John & Kanae.
