@@loefoto2824 i mean its gotten softer over the years. but considering how it all started here in the US and was pretty much an illegal and shunned activity its only natural to have that elitist and rough mindset. you dont understand how mainstream skating has gotten and you are complaining about gatekeeping? skating was almost exclusively illegal back then with only in the past 2 decades that skateparks started becoming more accessible. its always attracted the rougher kids through out the decades..not so much now. you also have to take into account a lot of that hierarchy and territorial mindset translated from surfing into skate culture. not necessarily a good thing but that WAS skateboarding.Japan doesnt have that history in skating and we are just too culturally different and diverse to begin with compared to them. although there's plenty of scenes of skating now that is just as positive as Japan.

I love how they are a big supportive group of different age groups. The younger boys must feel so acknowledge and gain confidence by the respect and attention they get from the elders. It’s really beautiful. It’s way too common to see older kids/teenagers refuse to hang out with younger kids and making them feel unworthy/inferior

buy a board though be prepared to pay quite a bit of money and go out on the street and try to skate. I learned how to skate by buying a board from a local skate shop and then going around skating and when i wanted to learn a trick or something i just searched it up on youtube.
