Our fourteenth Dreamcast launch title has been a favorite of mine since the original run of the series: TOKYO XTREME RACER, a hypnotic, addicting, rad-as-hell nighttime series of compelling street-racing showdowns that I find myself coming back to often, as it only feels more relevant as we've moved towards casual, a la carte gaming experiences. A undervalued gem!

This is one of my all time favourite games, on any system. I absolutely love it and have completed it lots of times. Superb graphics, looove the music, really like the concept and structure, plays great with the wheel. 10/10

Well done again. I love this game and racing games like it. They are alternatives to the standard styles of racing; we more often see and play. I also play the sequel to this game called Shutokou Battle 2 as I have a Japanese Dreamcast. These are a combination of addicting and relaxing. It's really the player's choice.

Yeah! I never played a Dreamcast much as a kid and I was like "what, I can just drive around and only race when I feel like it? This is so cool!"

This is one I never had but for whatever reason reason I always wanted to play it. I remember reading in a magazine about flashing your lights to race. And that amazed me for some reason lol wish I had gotten this one. Seems like a fun one despite the critics

The lesser known of my 3 launch day loves. It didn't blow me away out the gate like 2k and Soulcalibur, but it became my go to game by years end. This is one of those games that everyone would love if they could just get passed the early perceived turnoffs. After a little bit, you suddenly find driving around at your pace looking for a race as an enjoyable little cruise side thing. And then it was right back into the white-knuckle fighting game style race. Such a fun concept for a racing game too. It kind of did the Mike Tyson's Punchout formula. Yeah, that game's a "boxing" game just about as much as Tokyo Xtreme is a "racing" game. Clearing out a night's street's worth of rivals was almost like a bedtime ritual after a long day at work on an afternoon shift. Such an underrated game.

Agreed. Love it so much too. Really didn't understand why it reviewed badly in Europe and no one was talking about it at first. Nowadays I found that more people really think it is great.

This game changed racing games forever for me. I played the Demo of this and was blown away.. then continued to follow the series (at least as much as I could in the US). Also Most people didn't know what Wangan Midnight was until after TXR his in the US. Unless you were a fan of Initial D, or can read Japanese and liked Manga. NOt to mention there was many TXR games before Wangan had an anime release for subtitle watchers to enjoy. Its first installment, Shutokō Battle '94: Drift King, released in 1994 for the Super Famicom.

2nd game I got for my DC. So glad I ignored the reviews. It's one of my favourite DC games to this day. I still periodically dust it off to beat all the drivers again. The sequel was great too, but there's just something about the music on the original.

Strange that the reviews were so negative, right? I was amazed by it at the time.

A unique game you could do an episode on for this series, " ILLBLEED "

ILLBLEED came out late in the DC lifespan so it’ll be quite some time before I get to it but I *will* get to it for sure

@@SchmidGame lookin forward to it. Obscure ass game but me and my cousin picked it up at a video games express back in the day and were blown away. Unlike anything else on the market, almost till this day.

This might seem like a weird recommendation but if u could u should try and have some sort of custom profile picture. Your videos are really well made and edited but some people could assume not since your profile pic is a generic KZfaq one. Just a tip, it helped my channel, great video as always. This game has a great aesthetic and is a vibe but can get a bit boring

A great suggestion! I had that suggested and didn’t get to it, so I appreciate that reminder, thank you!

4:55 You are also referring to critics who tried to destroy a game company for giving out a full strategy guide with an extremely difficult hard core RPG (that mind you is now regarded by all fans as one of the world renown greatest rpg's for the Sega and Even one of the top 10 of all time)". Video game Critics and the "Article writers" of the time had very little to nothing to call "video game experience" to even call on for reputable opinions.

On top of this realism aspect they added in with all their games (even the mountainside drifting ones use real simulated near 1 to 1 versions of the roadways / touge), Along with the fact that they had actually used peoples REAL car clubs from Japan at the time. This added a level of coolness most Americans never even knew about. also they had some cameo/ hidden Easter eggs where you could race people like Takami Fujiwara from Initial D and unlock his car.
