On May 30, 2024, Toledo Police along with Lucas County Canine Care and Control (LC4), the Toledo Humane Society, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Office of Inspector General (USDA - OIG) recovered 36 dogs from multiple North Toledo residences for suspected dog fighting.
Today, Toledo Police officers and detectives from the Special Operations Bureau, along with LC4, the Toledo Humane Society, and the USDA - OIG conducted three residential search warrants in North Toledo for suspected dog fighting. Fourteen dogs were located at the first residence, fifteen at the second, and seven at the third. A total of 36 dogs were removed from the three locations. The Toledo Humane Society and LC4 took possession of the dogs.
The investigation is still ongoing, and charges against the individuals involved are pending.
