The Tolmie Peak Lookout hike is arguably the best day hike in Mount Rainier National Park. Not only is it short and gradual, but it also offers some of the best views in all of Mount Rainier National Park. In this video, we'll show you the route overview as well as the views along the trail. What makes this hike so special? You'll encounter two lakes along the tolmie peak lookout hike: Mowich lake, where the hike starts, and Eunice lake, which is located near the end of the trail. You'll also find a fire lookout on the top of tolmie peak. This fire lookout is one of the few that is left in Mount Rainier National Park. The two-story structure houses a lookout station on the upper level and storage at ground level. Today, this fire lookout is still occasionally used! With the sapphire blue Eunice lake and Mount Rainier in the backdrop, the view from the fire lookout and tolmie peak itself is one of the finest you'll encounter in the park.
