It starts at home. It's obvious that TB12 was raised in a caring, loving family that emphasized education and treating people right. Sports was a reward for doing all of the other things well. As a Lifelong Wolverine fan I 1st started paying attention to TB12 when he replaced the overrated Drew Henson in a Bowl game against Alabama. It was a small sample size but I bet a couple of NFL coaches and scouts saw that game too. How he dropped to the 6th round, Detroit is 30 minutes from The University of Michigan and one would think that a Lions scout would damn near stay on campus,, is beyond me. I think that back then, and probably even now, scouts just go by the " measuremables" and look for all the wrong sht. I look forward to seeing him in the booth on Sundays. Should have stayed retired.

Teams weren't and probably still not as well staffed as we the public like to believe. Just because the owners are billionaires doesn't mean they are eager to lavish pay and expenses on "support" staff. I believe scouts and junior assistants are still stretched thin and make peanuts working in the NFL compared to comparable positions else where. There were no internet databases and stuff so someone had to hike up or call up Michigan to get intel on TB. Considering he was never projected to be high, it's easy to imagine most teams never even bothered. And all those coaches and scouts that claimed they scouted him or knew what he could be were almost certainly lying or projecting what they wished they did, but in fact didn't do.

@@reddz.k.4404 You can't exactly say that they all lied. At least 2 coaches were all in on Brady. Everybody probably know by now why the Patriots didn't pick him until the 6th round. Their QB room wasn't really looking to adding another one. But their QB coach believed in Brady and that was why they had him on their radar. Aside from Rehbein, the Chargers coach then had a long scouting run with Brady. He'd been scouting him since hs. As the story goes, 'Brady was always the big one who got away from Mike Riley'. His problem was, someone with more power to pick didn't get to see what he saw.

@@polpol1005 Which QB doesn't get too much credit for team success? What makes Brady great is his ability to manage relationships, consistency, leadership, and step up when it matters. Most guys in the NFL are talented. So it's the intangibles that often make the difference. You don't win as much as he has by luck. He took advantage of every opportunity in his life. How many people of any stripe or situation can say the same thing?
@polpol10052 жыл бұрын
@@scratchpenny Which QB doesn't get much credit? I'd say Rams QB Stattford for instance. In that match Rams-Bucs Stafford simply outplayed Brady. If Brady would’ve done what stafford did we’d never hear the end of it, but because it wasn't Brady, the media didn't give him much credit.
@scratchpenny2 жыл бұрын
@@polpol1005 Fair point, but it's a different media status level between those two. Stafford, while always being good, does not have the consistent success or league status of someone like Brady. The truth is no one in the league has his status - he's the MJ of football from a marketing/media perspective. So much of what you're complaining about has to do with the media using popularity and status to drive their ratings. There is a reason that all these sports networks consistently talk about Brady and LeBron - they are incredibly popular and drive engagement numbers that other sports stars cannot. The same was true of MJ and Tiger Woods back in their times. So the media mythologizes these figures to absurd levels. But that doesn't mean Brady isn't a great QB. Objectively, he is. And the stats, longevity, winning, and even his relationships are a testament to that.
