Tom Chambers was one of the best game dunkers in the NBA during the 1980s and early 1990s. His dunk over Mark Jackson in 1989 remains one of the greatest dunks in NBA history. This Ultimate Dunk Mix highlights many of Chambers’ best dunks over his 16-year NBA career.
Background:
Tom Chambers was a prototype for today’s big athletic Stretch 4 forwards. His speed on the fast break combined with his extraordinary leaping ability led to frequent dunks. While not particularly flashy, Chambers dunked with authority and he posterized many of the top shot blockers in the NBA during his day. Chambers preferred the two-hand dunk, often rising to near head-level with the rim and cocking the ball back behind his head to add extra force before flushing it through.
Chambers played in an era before ESPN’s SportsCenter, before the Internet, and before HD video. This fact combined with playing the prime of his career in small media markets in Seattle and Phoenix has made it very difficult to obtain game footage. Despite playing in over 1100 regular season and 100 playoff games, there’s very little footage available and most of his best dunks remain locked away in the NBA’s video archive.
This Ultimate Dunk Mix represents the culmination of more than 10 years collecting game footage of Tom Chambers. My goal is to share his career accomplishments and highlights to help preserve his legacy.
Please Like & Subscribe as I will be producing more Tom Chambers content in the near future.

Great compilation! Tom dunked on the Bad Boys, Showtime, Beantown's Big 3, the Admiral, and just about everyone else. Other than dunks, he was a nightmare to match up with, because he had legit 3 point range, which was rare for a big man back then. He was ahead of his time.

Has to be one of the best in-game, in-traffic dunkers ever. Unquestionably the best white in-game dunker ever. Chambers displays here a stunning variety of emphatic dunks - two handed, left handed, two hand REVERSES!, double clutch, etc. And barely any of them unchallenged on open fast breaks. What a highlight package!

I loved that line 'he's what they call a traffic jammer'. LMAO. But it's the truth, most guys get most of their dunks on fast breaks, Chambers got most of his the hard way. If you look closely, this dunk on the Celtics is the one time Chambers shows any emotion after a dunk. He ever so slightly does a muted fist pump, as if so say "dang, I even impressed myself on that one." I can't think of any other dunk where he shows anything other than an immediate "get back on D" expression.

He’s done it again, folks! Beautiful uploaded dunks from the days of yore... Well played, Sir. A lot of rarities among these dunks to include a dunk(or 2) on the Admiral and a nice facial served up on Buck Williams. Tom left no prisoners. One thing of note in regards to the “Modern Day Cowboy”-he never stood and marveled at his own work(ahem-Lebron) and would merely trot to the other end of the court to play defense(maybe a little).

Certainly never knew him as a great dunker as he was near his retirement before I started watching NBA, but I knew he was a great scorer from owning a few of his cards years later. Obviously this mix is about the dunks but to me his quicks and open court speed for a man his size was just unfair. That crossover dribble when he was still in San Diego on one of the first dunks pictured was a beautiful move. Top two would have to be the dunk in Boston when he beat Bird along the baseline and finished on the other side of the rim or the one at the Lakers where he swooped in from the right and finished ferociously with the left hand. Then in both cases he just gathered himself and ran quietly back the other way with his head down. Act like you've been there before, which for Chambers was - judging by this video alone - a lot. Loved watching 80s/90s ball where these guys filled the lanes on the break, ran them out wide and hammered the ball down. Now they're bleeding out into the corners to shoot 22-footers. The constant assault on the rim, the board and the entire stanchion is where it's at. Or more aptly, where it WAS at.

This guy always does 2 handed dunks...and every dunker knows that its hard to dunk 2 hands cause its more exhausting and tough and can diminish your vertical leap..this guy is a beast

Ofcourse, this is his dunk mix bro...he can dribble and lead a fastbreak, he can shoot threes and midrange, he can do eurostep, he can pass, he can steal, he can block, he can do hook shot, and most of all he can posterize any one...a complete player

Saw Tom Chambers play in HS. Not too many big men moved like him back then. I think he got 50 points in the state championship consolation game.

This dude owns some of the best in game dunks ever. His height, aggressiveness, made him pull off dunks that were unique. I think the fact that he was white, people did not see him up there with the best dunkers of all time. He was, though.

Watch out below for Air Chambers. Just a crazy good vertical leap for a 6'10" forward. Wasn't flashy, but he was of the greatest ever in terms of the elevation he could get. Just going to the basket as fast and hard as he can to get the points. Only player from this era I can think of who I am sure could fly higher was Dominique Wilkins.
