Delilah" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Tom Jones in December 1967. The lyrics were written by Barry Mason and Sylvan Whittingham, and the music by Les Reed, who also contributed the title and theme of the song. It earned Reed and Mason the 1968 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

The song tells the story of a man who passes his girlfriend's window and sees her inside making love to another man. He waits outside all night, and then confronts her in the morning, only to have her laugh in his face. He stabs her to death, and then waits for the police come to break down the door and arrest him. The lyrics unfold from the killer's point of view, and are filled with his, often contradictory, emotions. He speaks of Delilah in possessive terms, but also refers to himself as her "slave." He asks his dead girlfriend to "forgive" him, but still clearly sees himself as having been wronged by her.

Lol. You guys kinda skipped over the part where the next morning Tom watched the man leave, and that's when he crossed the street to Delilah's house. Tom had already lost his mind the night before, and yes that makes it pre-meditated. Also, this was on the Ed Sullivan show, therefore the Orchestra. Love you guys. 🤔😎😆

Tom's voice is so amazing !! I went to Vegas in 1989 and went to his show. Towards the end of the show Tom's bodyguard tapped me on the shoulder to go backstage to meet him. Well I was with my prudish cousin who was 10 years older than me and who I looked up to. So she says " Oh No...you cant do that...You shouldn't!!!... So, I'm still upset to this day that I didnt go back to meet him....Darn her !!!...I'm 62 now. No telling what would have happened !! LORDY !!! THANK Y'ALL!!

Regarding the orchestra - you can hear violins playing yet you can't see any on the screen. Also - there is nothing in the lyrics that says he killed her or even touched her. For all we know, he used the knife on himself. With his dieing breath, he asked Delilah to forgive him.

This song is not about a man killing his girlfriend. It's about a stalker who has the whole relationship imagined in his mind. That's why he spied on her all night long, then waited for the other guy to leave, and then confronted her at the door ... and she laughed. A jealous boyfriend would have not sat there all night. And she wouldn't have laughed. He meant nothing to her.

You should check out Tom Jones Green Green Grass of Home. All my relatives used to sing it at family gatherings. The lyrics went right over our heads. At least it went over mine cuz I thought it was just about wanting to go home but it has a twist ending that I never realized all those years. It’s right in your face though so can’t believe I didn’t see it. Great song though.
