This 1996 video was taken from a TV special on Christmas Eve in 1996. It was titled “Tom Jones One Night Only” and was shown on Carlton UK Television. A VHS video containing 3 bonus tracks (not seen on the TV special) was released - details below. We released an edited version, which is just of the segment featuring Mark & Tom performing “Feel like going home”, along with pre-show and closing credits footage.

Notice how Mark listens very carefully to Tom and lets him set the emotional level for the piece, and doesn't upstage him. Most guitarists would play every lick they know at the get go -- Mark eases into it and finally comes up with a master level solo. Cooperation not competition.. what a pro -- both of them.

Two masters of the respective Arts. Mark listens carefully after the intro' to Tom's intonation and tempo and adapts the Tom's style - a difficult challenge as I'm pretty confident this was not a pre-rehearsed duet. Sir Tom knew Mark would deliver the goods and all ends perfectly

Susannah Hayward Knopfler really is one of the most versatile tasteful guitarists with just the right touch in the right hand. Just the right amount of attack and repose. More people get the technique of the left hand than the mix in the right hand. I think it’s because he uses his fingers and his actual thumb! He’s really a folk finger picker.

Not many singers like Tom on the planet, a treasure. And of course, very few guitarists can match Mark. And just like the sadly recently departed Jeff Beck, Mark has a style and sound all of his own. He can be playing a Les Paul with distortion, or a Strat played cleanly, it doesn't matter, it's instantly recognisable as him, no-one else. What a duo.
