RIP...Tom...Jeff's story is so fascinating to me. Ordinary bloke who has retained his ordinary bloke character, despite being one of the most talented people on the planet, musically speaking. You would expect someone who has achieved what he has, to be even just a teeny bit pompous or overly-proud, but he is the very antithesis of this. I love it.

Jeff Lynne certainly changed the sound of Tom Petty, Full Moon Fever was good, but Into the Great Wide Open with the Heartbreakers on board I thought is one of Tom’s best albums. Lynne produced that as well.

Me to, love that album grew up with it and it's on in my car constantly to this day ha
@taroistok87513 жыл бұрын
The only problem is that evrething lynn produced sound like ELO. Always the same compressed snare and dtum, with a ar,y of triple track guitar, you either like it or not. I like it in many ways, but he lost me on the anthology works where the song like free as a bird or real love got that sound too. Sonetime he should leave is bag of trick home and produce like he isnt jeff lynn
@charlesdoherty1042 жыл бұрын
@@taroistok8751 I know what you mean , I used to call it the ELO monster sound . Years ago he produced an album for Dave Edmunds called, Information. It also had that distinctive sound. But you have to credit the man’s musical abilities. He is a genius.
@flattardianspresident5502 Жыл бұрын

I've been watching a few different interviews with Tom Petty. I have never been a fan, but I become interested in rockers when the die. Why does he sound like a very old and feeble man? serious question, not a criticism. Drugs or just the way he was?
