For those who don't know, the game is Japanese, and because of ww2 treaties, Japan can't have an "army" only a group that can act if they're invaded, called the Self Defence Force (SDF), so because the game is Japanese, they made the Earth Defence Force

I love how basically every EDF game goes from "Okay, we're gonna defend Earth" to "We're doomed, this is the last days of humanity" to Storm 1 misunderstanding the meaning of the "last stand" and who is supposed to die at the end of it, and basically winning the final level of Halo: Reach.

Fun fact: In an interview with GameInformer, the creative director of EDF addressed that a lot of people have a phobia of insects. He said he understands why, but that he sees EDF as a way to temper that fear. Because if you don’t like bugs, you can blow them up by the thousands with giant guns and orbital lasers in EDF.

the potential for a warhammer 40,000 mod theme for this game is AMAZING. for the EDF, the Ranger class could be guardsman, wing divers could be jump marines, Aerator could be the Inquisition and fencer could be Angry marines or custodes. theres so much content that could be made from it

Assault rifles: Has a line of longer-ranged, higher power variants. Sniper rifles: Has a line of rapid fire variants. Missiles: Probably better for crowd control with 30 TARGET LOCK-ON. Shotguns probably don't have a *specific* long-ranged variant/variant line, but they're not point-blank only. That's reserved for flamethrowers and acid guns. I saw someone use this one Sparrow Shot that had a pretty good range, like on par or even longer range than some of the assault rifles.

How I hope that one day EDF and Helldivers do a collab

I fell in love with EDF back in 2011, when Extra Credits featured the current entry in the series in Games You Might Not Have Tried. It sounded like a good time, and me and hubby proceeded to blow up several exoplanets worth of bugs beating every mission on every difficulty lol When we got 4.1 it was my first EDF with classes, and fell in love with the mobility and sometimes Highly Technical power management of the wing diver, and husbando heard Fencer Gets To Carry 4 Weapons and said Sign Me The F*ck Up Sailor. We trade jobs mission by mission, with one of us focused on Big Dams To One Target and one on Crowd Control. Sometimes I've got the best tool for the job of flying in and blowing sheild generators and getting out un touched, and sometimes he's got it in 2 dozen guided missiles for those blue laser drone assholes that Slow You Down in hard and Stop You Dead in Inferno. We LOVE this game, and this video had me cackling with laughter several times. o7

I just finished my first campaign with wing diver in normal and I loved it... just to see if air raider was as op as badger advertised i started one with it... and had to switch to hard right away.... boy was he right!!!! Air raider is just too much fun lol

The number of problems an Air Raider can solve with a properly-placed Spritefall is astounding

Just the fact theres no background in the thumbnail and its just you, a spider, and explosion just sends waves of chaotic energy from you and the group, good job badger, 11/10, would watch for the 5th time gladly

EDF is one of the few rare series of games where you can counter huge gun's drawbacks from fire by... shooting the gun in the other hand. With the Fencer, using cannons in both hands (the kind that normally takes up to 2 sec to fire again) can be fire 3-6x faster by timing the shot from the 2nd hand (which cancel the kickback on the 1st hand). With cannon that would normally takes 24s to empty its 12 ammo before reloading a single one, I can empty BOTH cannons in ~7s and each shell shot deals a 12m radius of over 120K damage with the end-game cannons. The only issue with the Fencer's ordinance is... its reload time.

I have not seen too many EDF vids, but that game is my childhood co-op game aside from Halo. You got yourself a view immediately, RussianBadger
