Hubby was a good sport. I enjoyed watching his non-reactions. “Tastes like a tomato.” 🤣

Thank you, for a true taste test, without salt first and then with salt. Salt changes the whole taste profile. I've watched a lot of tomato taste tests and yours is the first that convinced to to try Aunt Ruby German Green.

Thank you so much for watching!!!! Thank you! Aunt Ruby is so good! So much so that I'm growing it again this year. Can't wait for the first ripe one!!! Happy Growing!!! 🌱

It looks like you are a Baker Creek tomato fan. I have been attending their National Heirloom Expo for years and it is a must attend for all tomato lovers. Great lectures by some of the top growers and 100+ varieties on exhibit. This year it is in Ventura, CA on September 10-12, 2024. Hope to see you there.

Oh it's in Ventura again?? I really wanted to go this past year and we couldn't. We have a lot of travel plans so we may not be able to make it again this year 🙁 we have family in ventura, though!

Really great video and so many cool types being tried. Your son knows his tomatoes and your husband may not be a huge fan but he is the GOAT on hot pepper eating. Thanks for the share!
@Onniesprairiegarden11 ай бұрын
Thank you!!! Haha! He is! He can definitely do those hot peppers! Keep a look out because I think he's going to do a Carolina reaper on here....

I grew Green Zebra in my first vegetable garden and it's been in my garden ever since - love that tangy flavour! Also grew Aunt Ruby's German Green Giant for the first time two years ago and it instantly went into my top 3... If you get the right weather and get the watering right that tomato has unbelievable flavour.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Green Zebra is a good one. Oh yes, I'm so impressed with Aunt Ruby's! I will most definitely grow that one again!

Only tomatoes I had this year were 3 different varieties. Hossinators, Mountain Fresh and the Celebrities. I planted my Hossinators in the raised block bed I have, and the other two varieties in 2 gal pots. The Hossinators were the only ones that didn't suffer. In fact they thrived. So that being said, 2 Gals I don't feel is enough soil to actually give a tomato plant the amount of Nutrients it needs from start to finish. The Hossinators, as far as expectations really surprised me in ALL levels this year. They started bushing up heavily back in May when the warm weather finally started getting here and immediately started putting on fruit. By then, I'd already replaced the trellising system I had em on, and was attempting to give them something to support em better. One of the four plants I had actually broke off in some heavy winds we got just above the first cluster of fruits it put on, so i just trimmed off the broken main stem and left it alone. The other three plants decided to put on enough fruit to make up the difference. I'd be willing to bet that at one point, I had 70 lbs of ripe tomatoes on just 3 of the plants. I know this, because we gave atleast 30 lbs away to friends and family and I actually picked atleast 40 lbs to take to the Church Food Pantry. And yet, there were 16 tomatoes that didn't get the pick and were tossed across the yard.

Sounds like a very fruitful year for you! That's a lot of tomatoes! What a blessing 😊

Noire's have a huge flavor drop if you refrigerate them.
@Onniesprairiegarden4 ай бұрын
I could see that. I never refrigerate them unless I have extra that just doesn't get eaten. That hasn't happened much at our house lol
@chinfuzzchet36164 ай бұрын
@Onniesprairiegarden I had a tough time eating them after a couple days of refrigeration....

I have no idea how, but this would be a good video to divide up by chapters, so you can click on any specific types someone might want to look into. Hope you're all doing well!! 😊

Yeah, I don't know how to do that but sometimes if it gets enough views it seems like KZfaq puts it together for you. Thanks for watching, friend!

Uluru Ochre is my favorite tomato of all time... It's a dwarf and mine did not get very big... how did you grow yours?? In pots or in ground? Thanks for this review!!
@Onniesprairiegarden9 ай бұрын
Oh it was such a great tomato. I grew it in a pot. I mostly do container gardening for the time being until we get our land. I can't wait to grow this in a raised bed to see how she does!
@artport79 ай бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, what size pot did you grow your dwarf Uluru Ochre in? I grew mine in 7 gallon grow pots and they did not get as big as yours... but I want them to next year.
@Onniesprairiegarden6 ай бұрын
@artport7 that's a good question. I'm not good at knowing the pot size 😬 I'm sorry about that. It was on the smaller side, though. I'd guess 5 gallon.
