I'd also love another remake, but back then I feel like the LAU trilogy was still limited by the technology to make things as vast as they used to be, on top of still being rushed to meet deadlines. If we get another remake, I hope current technology is enough so that we don't need as many loading hallways, and that the dev team is actually given enough to make huge levels and polished platforming.

Well it was done specially for the anniversary. Not every game in a series' entire catalogue has to be remade, FFS. This trend is just cancer. A remake every now and again of certain special games is not a bad thing, but it is bad when it gets this excessive.

Anniversary was the perfect mix of the classic and new TR. It captured the essence and atmosphere of the original with modern controls, puzzles and platforming. I think it's the best game in the entire series and would deserve a remaster for the current gen, or at least make it available for PS5 😟

You can play it on XB Series or PC via Native port or emulating almost all versions, waiting for a paid re-release or Remaster for a game you could easily play with your own old copy on other platforms is really sad, Sony hates retro-compatibility so much and loves to push his customers to the wallet, PS5 is not a good choice for old games.

Just get a cheap gaming PC or laptop. Unless you have an uber-potato any modest graphics card should easily be able to run the game from like 2007 or 2008.

"Tomb Raider Anniversary" was released in 2007 for PS2, X360, PC, Wii. It was released for the PlayStation 3 in 2011 as part of the "Trilogy" compilation, and has received new graphical improvements such as a new modeling of Lara.

You're wrong. The new remasters include a graphical improvement from the original 1999 Tomb Raider 1 (plus 2 and 3) Anniversary is a reimagining/slightly a remake of TR1 that came out in 2007. Anniversary is completely unrelated. Edit: nvm i realize now this was probably written in chatGP

Tomb Raider Remastered is studio Aspyr taking Core Design's game and, obviously, remastering it, whereas Anniversary is Crystal Dynamics' game and an actual remake of TR1. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but there is no Tomb Raider Anniversary game made by Core Design.

Been brought up on this game - TR1 came out when I was 9. Tank controls are somewhat more immersive to me and I wouldn’t play it any other way. Auto grabbing when you jump or fall takes away the fun/risk.

Maybe you have already seen Nicobass’ fan remake of TR2: The Dagger of Xian? It’s by far the best fan remake I’ve seen for TR2. It’s so well made and it still stays faithful to the original story❤ Too bad it’s only a fan remake and the it’s only being developed by one person.

I love them both! TR1 is just a great game no matter how old it gets. Same for anniversary, even though the challenge was scaled down it did the cutscenes and characters much better. Legend era lara always was my favorite as far as her character from the originals and the reboots, hopefully we get to see that era back on modern consoles someday ^^

Tomb Raider Anniversary one of the best game Remakes of all time, I completed this game several times on the legendary PS2, explored every corner of the scenarios, found all the secrets, opened all the bonuses and skins, good times when the game was complete and with several extras, including comments from the developers.

OG and the remastered are the top! They have charm, and nice, playful atmosphere. Anniversary in this video looks almost boring and fade - no colors, everything is so gray, even the green flora is gray there!

i have been playing some anniversary, it´s basically a streamlined version with heavy cuts, and very linear. from what i played. where getting lost seems to be a non issue..

I like both for different reasons. I like Anniversary for it's character designs, combat controls, and Keeley Hawes' voice acting but little things like QTEs and tedious puzzles weigh it down for me. The original game is more straight forward and to the point, and with the remaster's graphics, it's even better. If I could cherry pick one or two things Anniversary, it would be perfect in my eyes.

I played series since the very beginning. While I was in awed back then, the subsequent series starts getting the bore on me, managed to finish 2nd, but never did on 3rd & so on, especially that dreadful finale that is "Angel of Darkness" whis is a buggy mess & messy controls. Thank goodness that Legend reboots restored my faith. And when that anniversary got released, which turns out to be remake of original 1st game, albeit interwoven into legend 2nd part, I was aghast-ed! That amazing scene back in original, where Lara entered cave with doors closing behind, it was even more amazing with how the remake delivered. In fact, can safely say that anniversary probably the only TR I actually replayed more than once. Hence, albeit the recent remaster of original trilogy, while it does given new breath of life especially on some of character model, not sure I could go back playing those again, not with how the anniversary remake already made the original game way more breathtaking, even without the fancy current-gen graphical updates. And this vid did just that, proven that original still felt too dated to be replayed again. At least those fanmade on older consoles like gba/sega genesis does looked impressive since it does tries pushing their hardwares to its limit trying to bring original as perfectly playable as is.

I also like that I can switch up the graphics on the fly. The original graphics are the most colourful and raw looking, and the remastered switchup adds a nicer look. Anniversary looks nice too, but the colour palette is slightly drab.

I don't understand why Tomb Raider original is getting yet another remaster. The 2008 one, while slightly dated now, still looks infinitely better compared to the original, but far more importantly, is actually playable with decent controls. No offense to the 90s Tomb Raider games, but they were very much the first settlers in this new 3D gaming space, and not every design choice has held up well. Tomb Raider is one of those games that is better left in the past, especially with how many ridiculous number of sequels and reboots it has had. This latest "remaster" is just the original game, unchanged. What is it, like a texture pack? They're asking money for a glorified graphics mod. Totally unnecessary and ridiculous. There is no reason to buy this over Anniversary, or even just the original Tomb Raider which still sells but for like under a buck.

actually u shouldnt compare the PC version of Anniversary since it has no next gen graphics options like PS3 or xbox 360, they just ported the ps2 version with outdated graphics to the PC cuz the devs were too stupid to handle their own engine properly and next gen content on PC was too problematic to make it run good

I love anniversary, it is a beautiful game. But comparing them side to side, og is so much better! Just noticing the difference between the dialog of Lara and Natla (basically her introduction), anniversary can be a bit "lame" storywise

I was anticipating playing the original games for the first time and when remasters came out i surprisingly didn't like them. Platforming is not difficult at all and the controls are okay as soon you get used to them (both tank and modern). The problem is level design which is just about trying to find the lever or some button in shitty textures. Such a headache... After you finish kissing each wall trying to find the lever you have missed, you go to another location to understand that you'll be doing the same thing for the next 20-30 minutes. It's not about the game being more difficult than the remake. It's about bad lightning and hideous textures. Everything else is pretty basic and honestly anniversary was a bit harder for me. So i like in the remake how they cut out all the repetitive boring parts from the OG and extended what really should have been extended (except the design of the last level). Remasters visually look cool tho and I'm glad that the fans of classic tomb raider got their favourite games.

Anniversary had very good levels and a lot of them are better than tr1 but the violence is so toned down, the traps, the deaths are all ragdoll like, the mutant boss doesn't even frighten you. I don't really find it a memorable game. They ruined the cutscenes in tr1. Completely removed the badass moment where Lara uses her motor cycle with a stupid song in the background She slowly paved the way for whiny croft in anniversary. Just look how whiny she behaved in anniversary. Everything needs to be linked to daddy while Lara never mentioned her father in the original tr1. Natla talks too much in anniversary making her look like an one dimensional villain while the original Natla had a for mystery around her.

After playing both preu levels all the way through, the new remastered and anniversary I can safely say that anniversary looks so much better and there is more gameplay.... They should have ported anniversary over in place of the original.... And remade the other 2 (haven't played them yet...)

In comparison TR: Anniversary does look more "modern" in terms of graphics, but I don't like that they've changed the gameplay and rewritten the story. Completely unnecessary changes, which of course they've not stopped doing so since then. These remasters are perfect recreation of Lara's original games, full stop. With exception of the absurd raised ESRB rating AND censorship (plus disclaimer stating it's intact), a couple minor bug fixes and it's ready for a physical release. TR: Anniversary is like going to a restaurant and ordering a hamburger and they serve you an 'plant based' burger with no toppings or condiments, they assume what I need instead of asking my preference or giving me what I should expect what it says on the cover. That's the stark difference between 'remake' and 'remaster' with one taking creative license to change whatever they please and the other simply adding polish to the cherished original.

well it can be, but when they change too much it´s not even the same game at all. the best remake is the resident evil one. where it´s mostly the same some added stuff. but it plays the same. but when they change everything, it´s basically a new game instead..

Remastered is better in every aspect. The levels feel so much more alive and colorful, and Anniversary looks drab and boring, just grey and beige. Also, the original level design is much, much better!

This is so true, and its funny because my first TR game was Anniversary. And yes, anniversary feels souless, boring, bland and just like a bad remake in general. In fact the only "tomb raider" games from Crystal dynamics I found fun to play are Rise and Shadow. The remasters are way, way better than most tr games from CD fr💀

I prefer Anniversary Lara, but Remaster Lara has better leg geometry and shape. Always hated the super narrow knees with huge calves look. Very unproportionate.

It looks like a remaster to me. I think what you’re referring to is a remake, if it was a remake yes it should have had way more. But remasters are usually just small polishes and visual clean up

@@Annachank each person wiht they own opnion, for me it makes no sense it would be the same as if we got a remaster of the original ps1 resident evil 1 game, why would i wanta remaster from the inferior version if the reamke of the resident evil 1 is better? i rather get it remastered again, so i see no point, but who knows some people don't care i guess.
