I think the idea came after they were on Niall’s IG live during quaratine and Niall sang this song. James made a comment about how he used to sing it in pubs. I remember a pub video of James doing a cover before he was famous which Mcfly loved (somewhere on KZfaq). I guess the Mcfly boys then put this together👍
