I first heard this 37 years ago. I was driving listening to Steve Wright in the afternoon and it came on as part of his golden oldies. It was before the internet and I had to stop the car because his voice was simply so beautiful, it bought me to tears and I simply had to capture who was singing it. 3 years later I was working with a company who could get hold of any record, past present. I asked them to get this along with Green onions for my then future wife. They produced both. To listen to it on 45, with the interference is amazing. On our wedding night this was the song I danced with my wife too. Tommy Edwards, you're a legend!

I love the 50s and the love/heartbreak songs of the 50s and 60s! I think people sang with more emotion and no autotune. These guys had to nail their tracks or it cost money. So, you had to have talent back in the day and I am not sure a lot of singers today could nail every note today. I believe you guys did the Righteous Brothers' version of "Unchained Melody" but try Al Hibbler's version of it which is in this kind of style!

I first heard this song when I watched the coming-of-age movie titled Mischief which came out in 1985. This hilarious movie is about a teen in 1956 and made me fall in love with 50s music. I cannot stress enough how much this movie changed my life because I didn't give an F about doo-wop, soul, or rock from the 50s until I saw that movie but that changed just by seeing it for the first time. I don't know why more people don't know about it.

Since I Fell for You by Lenny Welch is right there for me ❤ AND: I Only Have Eyes for You. It’s a song written in 1934 that has been covered by many artists. 1959 by The Flamingos & in 1975 by Art Garfunkel. Some like one over the other, but I ❤ both versions because it’s a such a well written song!

Loved your reaction guys! I've always loved this song. There is so much great music from back then and so many wonderfully talented artists. And Dee, you're probably thinking of a dinner theater where a live band or orchestra would play and also back up the singer. Also, there was a dance floor in front of the stage. Another artist you'd love from the 50's is Roy Hamilton. Some of his songs are Ebb Tide, You'll Never Walk Alone, I Believe, and You Can Have Her. Happy Valentine's day Dee!🌹

I actually heard Bob Dylan do an excellent cover of this at a live concert in the 80's. I've seen him so many times that I can't remember the exact year, but the female vocal backups were also incredible on this song. As I said, I've seen lots of Dylan concerts, some incredible, some not so much, but sometimes he would come up with an extraordinary performance of a cover that no one expected!

Composed by a vice-president of the USA. From Wikipedia: "It's All in the Game" is a pop song whose most successful version was recorded by Tommy Edwards in 1958. Carl Sigman composed the lyrics in 1951 to a wordless 1911 composition titled "Melody in A Major", written by Charles G. Dawes, who was later Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge. It is the only No. 1 single in the U.S. to have been co-written by a U.S. Vice President[1] or a Nobel Peace Prize laureate (Dawes was both).

Thank you for this great reaction. One critical thing is that music wasn't overly produced. It wasn't processed to the nth degree by technicians and machinery. Also, the musicians were together in the room and could sing and play instruments together, be inspired by each other, and would start together: 1, 2, 3 go!

Great song! Tommy Edwards was an R&B singer & songwriter. "It's All In The Game" was his biggest hit in 1958 but he did some other songs such as "Please, Mr. Sun", "Love Is All We Need" etc. "It's All In The Game" was also recorded by Cliff Richard & The Four Tops. Several of his songs became hits for other artists such as "A Fool Such As I" by Elvis Presley, "Please Love Me Forever" by Cathy Jean & The Roommates & later by Bobby Vinton & "Morning Side Of The Mountain" recorded by Donny & Marie Osmond.

3 major things happened. Ronald Reagan defunded the music and arts departments of public Schools. Then in later years Producers like P. Diddy put themselves in front as artist lowering the bar of acceptable talent. Record companies realized they didn't have to put the money into bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, Blood Sweat and Tears for example. They could pay mediocre singers and Rappers to sing on tracks and fill the stage up with their entourage to just jump up and down and people excepted the downgrade. And we've been down grading for the last 25 years. It's a shame. But with more folks like you guys recognizing maybe things will change.
