Fun fact: this song was originally sung by another Tommy, the legendary Tommy Körberg (best known internationally for Anthem from Chess). I highly recommend listening to it; it's linked in the description of Tommy's video. Ronja Rövardotter (Ronja the robber's daughter), both the book and the 1984 movie, hold a lot of childhood nostalgia for me.

Ronja Rövardotter (Ronja the robbers daughter) is a childrens book by the beloved childrens book author Astrid Lindgren. In the movie adaptation of the book this song and other great songs are performed. I love Tommys covers of these classic swedish tunes. Great reaction, thanks!

It called Ronja Räubertocher in german.Many, many young people loves it. Ronja is a young female Warrior. But, she is also a anachiest. Pure Astrid Lindgren Grettings from northern Germany 🤘

I was on a flight to Dublin, Ireland from Stockholm, Sweden in April where the flight crew sang this song through the intercom to the passangers on the plane ✈️ The passangers also sang along so the whole plane were singing this 😃 My Irish seat neighbour was a bit perplex. The reason was a bachelor party group with around 15 vikings on the plane with helms, shields and wolfskin so the flight crew did it like a celebration for them. Also, since you have started doing reactions for him, Erik Grönwall was at the same Midsummer celebration as me last week. Love the Swedish summer and Midsummer festivities ☀️🇸🇪

In my opinion "Ronja the robber's daughter" is kind of serious. It's about a young lady growing up in a castle in a forest and having to face all kind of stuff - parents, first love, nature and also more fairytale things like "vildvittror". It's a great movie and most Swedish 70', 80's, 90, and 00 kids have seen it. It just recently got a tv series on Netflix, which I did not actually like. Maybe I am too nostalgic. This is actually called "The robber's song" as Ronja's father and his gang are robbers. Thanks for the reaction! 👍

As someone who has, like a lot of other Swedes, grown up with this song and FINALY hear someone from the US react to it, even though a modern metal version of it… then on the one hand giving us Swedes the praise for our music in general, and in the next breath saying “not a lot of lyrical development”.. that is comical perfection! Thank you for that! I’ll leave a like for that one and the fact that you seam like a smart person!

The book about Ronja Rövardotter was written by Astrid Lindgren in 1981 and filmed in 1984. The new film adaptation was released in 2024 on Netflix and the book is released in 37 languages. Read it to your children. It is about a ten year old girl who was born on a stormy night in a mountain fort, surrounded by her parents and a loving band of robbers. Ronja grows into a strong and active girl, and discovers that the forest is both a beautiful and terrifying place inhabited by strange creatures. She befriends the son of her father's rival and so begins the drama of her friendship and family loyalty.

Those parts of the US are very similar naturewise andalso climatewise to Sweden, I think that is why all the Scandinavians moved there, they were good at farming in that very familiar environment

The movie, and the book off which it's based, are by Astrid Lindgren (you may have heard of her, eg Pippi Longstocking), it's basically a childrens version of Romeo and Juliet. Two gangs of robbers who hate each others, one of the gangs leader has a daughter, the other a son, the children become friends, they don't die in the end though

The song is from a Astrid Lindgren classic, a novel about Ronia the Robber's Daughter (Ronja Rövardotter). Known and beloved not only in Sweden but at least in all of Scandinavia. Tommy on a classic Sweden-tour! Love it!

Ronja is a combination of Scandinavian folk lore set in a middle age setting. About 7-9 year old being the main target demographics, but with a bunch of timeless reference humor and dialog that makes grown up willing to read/watch the movie with their children and enjoy it as well. They kinda stopped making these kinda wide demographic entertainment narratives sometimes in the middle of the 1990's that brought the entire family to enjoy it together.

Vårskriket är ju när Ronja går ut i skogen bland alla vitsippor och bara skriker... Ingen sång eller musik där. Men jag har läst mig till att den här heter Rid över skog, så du har nog rätt i att det inte är Rövarsången. Men många kallar den det ändå..

_Ronja Rövardotter_ could "best" be translated to Ronja - The robbers daughter. Her dads name in Mattis, and her mother is Louis. -So she could be named Ronja Mattis-dotter (daughter) / Louise-dotter. She becomes friends with Birk, Mattis nemesis Bork's son, named Birk -Birk Borkas-son.
