Here's the video about vocal range of Tommy Karevik (new vocalist of Kamelot).
Sorry for such delay, but I hadn't got the time to do it earlier. This video is dedicated to www.GuardianOfShigeru.deviantart.com - the greatest Tommy's fan ever! :)

Tommy is easily one of the best male voices out there today. Talented singer, and really nice guy too- met him after a Kamelot show. :)

That's how I felt for Annette Olson with Nightwish. She was limited in the records, but when I saw her perform Dark Chest of Wonders live I had no doubts that she was meant to do this.

They were smart. They searched for someone who could fill that empty space left behind when Roy left. It's so close to sounding like his voice. Of course, Roy will always be the original, but I appreciate the uniqueness of Tommy's voice as well :3

I tried these ranges on my guitar. Man, what a random work you did there. Only 10% is accurate. 4:57 his last note is G#5 instead of D5. Have mercy with your incompetence...

I really love how Tommy sings, really, but let´s be honest, the way that Tommy sings in S/W is much better than how he sings in Kamelot, is just my oppinion, that´s why i love Seventh Wonder more than Kamelot, just listen "The Great Scape", "Mercy Falls" and the "Waiting in the Wings" albums. You´ll know what i'm talking about! lml! Tommy Karevik is just the best lml he should be in Angra ;)

+Jorge Mendieta Totally agree. Kamelot was a better band with Roy Khan, especially The Black Halo. Khan had the emotion in that band then that Tommy had(s) in SW on Mercy Falls and The Great Escape and Waiting in The Wings.

Thanks for this vid. I think you got it just right that he's a low tenor. I think over time his voice will settle at slightly lower than he's currently singing. The first lines of 'Welcome To Mercy Falls' sounds so good for his voice. Just in the sweet spot! :)

F# indeed.
@hellashes
@hellashes 8 жыл бұрын
Old argument is old, but I still get an F5 when playing it to a keyboard. (I've also charted the song as a custom in Rock Band, which the vocal MIDI note also gives me an F5. I tried F#5 and it clashes with the actual note in the song.) To put it to the songs chord at the point (which is Eb major), an F# would clash against the chord as a minor 3rd. F natural as a 9th works much better, but now I'm spouting music theory which really doesn't mean much in this scenario since vocalists tend to get a bit more free will on what they wanna do lol

Correction…the title should read "Tommy Karevik's (Seventh Wonder) Vocal Range". :-) After all, much as I love Kamelot, Tommy was in SW before Kamelot (and thankfully still is), and Seventh WOnder is BY FAR the better band. Check out "The Great Escape" or "Mercy Falls" for proof (note that Tommy DID NOT sing on their first disc, "Become").
@subwaytosally18642
@subwaytosally18642 10 жыл бұрын
Actually, the title should say "Tommy Karevik's (Kamelot/Seventh Wonder) Vocal Range". It definetely should mention Seventh Wonder but Kamelot as well since Tommy is currently in both bands. And you can't say that Seventh Wonder is better than Kamelot because they are two different bands in two different subgenres of metal, therefore aiming for two different sounds. If you ask me, they are both great at they do, just not comparable.

There you go: (Scheme: Song -Band-Album) Intro: Prodigal Son (Kamelot, Silverthorn) One Last Goodbye (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) Pieces (Seventh Wonder, Waiting in the Wings) My Confession (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Song for Joleee (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Falling Like the Fahrenheit (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Veritas (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Ashes to Ashes (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Sacrimony (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Solitaire (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Silverthorn (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Torn (Kamelot, Silverthorn) Tears for A Farther (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) Unbreakable (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) Break the Silence (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) A Day Away (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) Star of David (Seventh Wonder, Waiting in the Wings) The Edge of my Blade (Seventh Wonder, Waiting in the Wings) Outro: Break the Silence (Seventh Wonder, Mercy Falls) This was fun to do! I know the songs well enough to recognise them without help by just hearing the short snippets in the video. Sometimes if i was unsure, the song kept playing in my head and then I knew which one it was. In case you haven't, give Seventh Wonder a listen. Amazing band and Tommy shows off a bigger range than in Kamelot.

+Jan Edjmeister Tommy Karevik foesn't sound forced. If there is something about singing where Karevik is better than Khan is his naturaly. Tommy's voice sounds naturaly every time, but Khan's voice breaks when he goes to the higher notes. Then it sounds forced, although his falcetto sounds like the product of years of hard working. That is: Kan's voice is a lot of hard working, and Karevik voice is just naturally powerful
