Tommy Morrison, the late former WBO heavyweight champion who died tragically at the age of 44, had one of the greatest left hooks in boxing history. He is known for his acting career, having starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1990 film Rocky V as Tommy Gunn. Morrison's hook was short, fast, and powerful, and it was responsible for a large portion of his 42 knockouts. During his heyday, his muscular physique concealed the remarkable speed and perfect precision that distinguished his hook. Stay tuned to the end of the video because we will look over Morrison’s greatest hits, which showcased his incredible punching power.

I saw him in a club in Tulsa around 2007 or so I think it was. He was a skinny, frail, homeless looking version of himself. I didn’t recognize him, but one of my buddies I was with told me who he was. I didn’t believe him until I spoke to him. He was very nice, but just seemed sad. It was depressing to see such a fall from grace. I hope he has found peace now. 🙏🏻

*Tommy Morrison is one of the saddest stories in boxing, and it’s sad that his life followed the downfall like his character in Rocky.* Morrison fell into the trap of toxic women, parties full of drugs and sex, and those followed him to the grave. His last wife sold his HIV meds to buy drugs, and lied to him telling him that he no longer had HIV and he deteriorated rapidly until his death.

His fights against Thomas, Odum, Tillis, Jaco, and Williams would also have been good to highlight. If only Morrison could have been more consistent with his training habits and a better preparation routine the tools were there to be among the very top tier for a while. According to his trainer the only time that Tommy trained to 100 percent focus was against Foreman, and that's because he was petrified of him.

He was definitely my favorite boxer back in the day. Always wanted to see him fight Tyson, but after watching Mercer destroy him, it brought a tear to my eyes why would the ref let him take that beating? I'm sure Tyson would have beaten him but definitely would have made a legendary fight. The two hardest punchers squaring off.
@ButcheryTapes
@ButcheryTapes 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah Tyson would have won it would not have been a good fight for Morrison. Morrison had potential to be better though, if he had more head movement and if he kept in better shape he could have been fairly close to Tyson.

@@ButcheryTapes Tyson ducked Foreman. Morrison beat him. I think a good Morrison would've beaten Tyson. Tyson's chin was never good, and Morrison absolutely would've landed.
@ButcheryTapes
@ButcheryTapes 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheStraightestWhitest Lol Tyson didn’t duck Foreman or any man “I take all comers.” An example, Tyson had nothing to gain (and everything to lose) fighting Razor Ruddock yet he fought him twice and beat him twice just to show he was the greatest. Foreman was no match for Tyson, Foreman was practically a stationary target. Don’t know why you’re convinced Morrison would land on Tyson when Tyson’s greatest weapon was his “elusiveness.” Don’t know why you say Tyson had a weak chin because that’s not true at all. He stayed on his feet taking a pounding from Douglas in Tokyo due to his personal problems and with only one eye still knocked Douglas out but the ref slow counted. Douglas recovered and won, but Douglas was nothing special and Tyson would have demolished him if he was mentally focused at the time. Fighting is mostly mental after all. And even after Douglas floored Tyson with a flurry of shots (not a single shot) Tyson still looked for his mouthguard and stood up. In fact Tyson was never put to sleep in his whole career. Only at his lowest points, whether from personal crisis or getting older and losing passion did he ever get dropped but he was never out cold and that is testament to his chin. He also took a hammering from Holyfield in the first fight and again no clean KO. Marciano is said to have had one of the greatest chins in boxing history but he never got hit by the power of Tyson and if he had I’m sure it would result in a KO sleep. Tyson was being hit by huge fighters and ate it up. Morrison was never on Tyson’s level and the only time Morrison could have won a victory on Tyson would be in a moment of mental/personal crisis for Tyson like in the Douglas fight. IMO Morrison was just a sort of white-version copycat of Tyson, a great white hope and although he had a punch on him and won some fights he was not the same stock as Tyson. Tyson was always obsessed with perfecting his techniques and mastered boxing. Morrison would have better made a good sparring partner for Tyson to practise with.

@@ButcheryTapes Tyson had a cristal chin, not glass! I single blow and he was done. Marciano would have killed him, cause the man was just like a machine: the more you punched him, the stronger he got! If Morrison had put in the work he would have been one of the greatest of all times.

I was shocked when he beat foreman. I did not think he had the discipline to tailor a style to beat foreman. A younger foreman would have knocked him out, but i did not think tommy had it in him to fight differently than normal and win.
