Two remarkable things about this song 1. The clear bell like quality of Ashaji s voice. Such a great vocalist 2. The dancers are in the dark while Minoo Mumtaz is in the light all the time. Very innovative. Technically ahead of its time.

Lead Dancer's name is Minu Mumtaj, elder sister of late actor Mehmood and daughter of choreographer Mumtaj Ali. She was one of the finest dancer of her time.

This film was based on Old Zamindars settled in Calcutta, based on story of Bimal Mitra ,was made in a Bengali film . Later made in Hindi , by Guru Dutt. Tha music was given by Hemant Kumar and sung by Asha Bhosle. The film was superhit starring Guru Dutt, Meen Kumari and Rehman

Agree. The likes of Shakeel Badayuni and other lyricists were truly urdu poets. Urdu was their jabaani bhasha. Their poetry brought out the best that the language could offer.
