Good stuff.....best spread i have seen,clean & perfect job fella thanks for the tips,now gonna have a go at a small ceiling meself even though i am no plasterer but this vid has inspired me to have a go and yes i have done a few little wall jobs before but no ceilings.....big sander at the ready if i fook it up lol !!!

how do you gauge how long before it sets in? here we use gypsum plaster with set times of 20, 45, 90 and 150 minutes.

how come you guys don't use drywall mud and tape with drywall knives?.....

You will never get a perfectly flat surface by filling joints over tape. This is the correct way to plaster walls and ceilings. When the light catches a ceiling that's been joint filled you can see every joint.

You guys don't tape over there? Done way different and faster here in North America with tape and way less mudding

+D.A. R. same in nz , we tape the joints and plaster about 500 ml across the joint only, 3 coats, sand seal etc. although we have some clients looking for level 5 finish which is considered superior and requires a full skim coat on the final 3rd coat of the usual method

Yeah he used the self adhesive tape. What I mean is this would be a level 5 finish, the best u can get here.. but here we just tape the joints not everything.

+D.A. R. Plastering is proven to be faster. You cant tape and sand the same day you can have a house plastered in a day with a good squad of plasterers.

+D.A. R. Same in Canada however drywall compound is so soft that it dings up if you sneeze on it. Veneer plaster is hard as a rock and gets harder over the years. Also no dust. I wish the drywall system would go away and that people would adopt veneer plaster all over again.
