In this video, we make a shot with the Sage Dual Boiler and Eureka Specialita, and make a Doppio shot on the Delonghi Dinamica Plus. The Doppio has about 14-15 grams, so I loaded 14.5 grams into the Sage Dual Boiler. I am using a darker roast from Lavazza, which has been quite toasted, making it, let's say, easier to extract.
Let's see how the superautomatic fairs against the Dual Boiler in this comparison. Spoiler alert: the Dinamica Plus can make what I'd consider a real espresso shot, but lacks some intensity, and maybe a little nuance in flavor to the Sage Dual Boiler, but it is nonetheless a respectable espresso.

I ordered one yesterday after seeing your reviews, Delonghi Dinamica Plus is what exactly I need, i don't like the process of making the coffee as i have a Breville machine in my office and it gets messy and takes time. the Delonghi Dinamica Plus is the best automatic machine I sew so far. thanks for the review.

Tom, when I firstly found your channel I mentioned that De Longhi Dinámica improved a lot vs other superautomatic. The grinder, tamping system, dual boiler, prebtewering all together make their espresso good enough I am glad you have found more or less the same.

That's a good question. I took a look at them today at the store: Magnifica, Dinamica, Prima Donna, Eletta - from my vantage point they seemed to be the same. But I am guessing there are some differences in them, because I can choke the Dinamica, but could never choke any Philips or Delonghi ECAM machine. This will require further investigation.

@@TomsCoffeeCornerperhaps you meant that ECAM is an improvement over ESAM? It seems that the newer DeLonghi models that are capable of a higher dose advertise a 19 bar maximum pressure rather than 15 bar (not that either of those specs are important, accurate, or ideal for espresso extraction, but it may be a way to compare models within the brand).

Hey Tom, again thanks for the video you have greatly improved my espresso knowledge thank you. Question why do you keep referring to the pucks? I'm not coffee connoisseur, but do enjoy a Latte every day. I have had a Philips 3200 for over year now and I have FANTASTIC pucks, don't know what that means as far as espresso taste, its just how its always been for me. I assume that is a good thing seeing how you keep talking about the Delonghi's pucks. Is this true? Thanks for the comparison from the One touch BES990 it was on my wish list, but my taste buds don't think i could tell the difference between the Dynamic Plus so its in the amazon basket for now.
@sachan9081
@sachan9081 5 ай бұрын
A nice puck indicates a couple of things. It implies some sort of tamping has happened, that the grind wasn't to fine or course, that it didn't get any channeling. That is already hard to get right on a superautomatic. There's still more to it besides the puck, like pressure, temperature, speed, etc that determine a good extraction. A nice puck is a sign that a couple of things are going right.

The answer below is right. A good puck is a sign of good puck prep generally. I just like that I get nice pucks with the Delonghis. They knock out easier for me on my Delonghis too, than other portafilter machines. And here, I am impressed that the Dinamica Plus SA actually makes real pucks, and not just soggy crumbling messes.

in my experience the superauto's (unless a high end commercial machine) produce a crema with less body, more air. recall trying espresso from a superauto brasilia that was very close to manual/ semi auto espresso.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 7 ай бұрын
You're right about that. Most produce it via some kind of aerating valve or something. But this one must produce it via sheer puck size and fine grind, because its a real crema. Cheers!

@@TomsCoffeeCorner seems the superauto problem is handling a finer grind (error messages) as it has to move it internally as part of the superauto mechanism whereas the manual way is not impeded by such. the only coffee drinkers that will care is limited to the hard core aficionados.
