Here's a great clip of our friend Johnny Thompson (Tomsoni) and the lovely Pamela Hayes (& Co.) from a magic special hosted by Dick Cavett which was broadcast by HBO in 1977. Find out more about Johnny & Pam at their website: JohnnyThompson.com

Hi Michael, I just found out from you that Pam also died in 2010. I just pulled this video up for my son on the disappearing dress trick. I worked with them in 73-74- 76. They were amazing people. The last time I saw them was at Play House in the Park in Cincinnati Ohio. The next day before their flight we went to lunch, I never thought that would be the last time I saw them. Johnny was going to give me his old Blamo box he had just sitting in the garage. It took me years running by their dressing room trying to find out how some tricks were done. I love the bowling ball trick the most. There will never be anyone like them.. Johnny never got over his sons death. Pam truly loved him.

Thank you for one of the finest and funniest magical acts ever. He was also a brilliant close-up performer. I was lucky enough to see him for both in my youth. You will be missed, Johnny. Far too many broken wands this week.

Having been a magic nut for 45 years, watching Johnny Thomson reminds me of why I adored magic oh so much more back then, than what I do now. The majority of my fellow magi may be very clever with cardistry and flashy moves BUT couldn't own a stage if their lives depended upon it!

Younger people dont understand who this is when they see the Cris Angel Mindfreak TV show. Even younger magicians don't realize that's The Great Thompsoni on the show helping and encouraging Cris Angel right there on TV. Cris did mention this about Johnny early on and I did appreciate Cris at least doing brief info segments with other magicians like Lance Burton and Penn And Teller.

*Tomosni - But, it sounds like Johnny Thompson really was a champion of magic performances of all kinds. I learned about him first through his involvement with Penn & Teller - Fool Us, and then just followed the threads back from there. It's an impressive performing career, but an even more impressive career with his support of other magicians.

Can no longer reply directly (thanks, Google Plus!) but per Serratop's comment about how magicians used to use less equipment and now rely more on technology: don't forget, one of the first magicians to make illusion shows fashionable for the higher classes, Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin, used a lot of clockwork, electrical and magnetic equipment, and other then-complex technology for his tricks, as well as relying on traditional hand tricks.

It is destined for people to die once, and after this comes judgment Hebrews 9:27 NASB But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NASB For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 NASB Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 NASB Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5 NASB For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God. Romans 8:14 NASB The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36 NASB Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. Galatians 6:7 NASB For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 10:26 NASB Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14 NASB THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HUMAN HEART, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. 1 Corinthians 2:9 NASB

That chewing gum was intended for distraction. She puts her chewing gum inside the hat but at the same time pulls black string attached to her dress quickly through the hole at the side of the hat. Later magician just pulls string attached to her dress through that hole and outside of the hat, very clever. The only mistake is when she turns she doesn't hide hole and video replay shows it.

@@wil79644 I just watched David Copperfield on Penn & Teller's fool us... the show was dedicated to Johnny. That's why I looked up this video. David said there were some details that he knew on how Penn and Teller did their trick. And one detail that he didn't know. And that made him extremely happy because he wanted to be fooled.
