I respect your opinion on Tomy Oliver, but personally, I would LOVE to have him in my collection simply because he’s rare and I want to try to get every single different engine character in the classic Tomy/Trackmaster range. However, the only problem I have with this Oliver is that he has black wheels instead of green. But overall, I take Oliver over most of the redesigned engines in the Revolution/Motorized range.

Also about the Capsule Plarail Oliver having that incorrect wheel color - literally every single capsule plarail engine had grey wheels back in ye olden days of the merchandise line. Some of those engines were redesigned and got the correct color wheels WITH siderods, but sadly Oliver never got the chance to redeem himself 😔 😔 😔

Well capsule plarail oliver whas made during a time when capsule plarail engines had the same chassis, he’s one of the few engines to remain with this chassis. On the prototype pamphlets for the “toad and the whale” and “happy winter town” editions, there were prototypes of him with siderods, toad and the whale whas push along and a physical prototype, happy winter town whas a windup but just art

A lot of the issues with tomy Oliver can be chopped up to him using the Donald and Douglas type drive unit Why Tomy decided to go with that and not the Thomas/Percy drive unit is a complete enigma to me

I agree with you on this matter, however I can't really argue because I never owned any Trackmaster or Tomy Plarail merch at all. Instead I had the actual good wooden railway system and a bit of Take-n-Play, but that was really it. Thomas was more of entertainment to me when I was younger rather than an obsession, as I've actually been more into real life trains and railroading from day one, and only in recent years I got back to the older fandom of Thomas and I'm glad I did. This community it so amazing. The music makers and reorcasterators, content creators, documenters, reviewers, custom modelers, everyone in this fandom is amazing

I Agree with you on Tomy Oliver's Wheels and Running Board But I think he has to look that way for the connections with the Tomy range and the motor drive and battery compartment. Just Saying :P

I've always noticed how badly Oliver was back in the day too bad they didn't make a better version model of him. I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thinks Tomy Oliver is bad because man does he just look fricken awful and frankly I'm going to ask Train Boy if he could please make a much better version of Tomy Oliver than this since he is one of the best Thomas modelers here on KZfaq (although I don't think it's likely he'll respond back to me sadly)!

I never got the hype around TOMY Oliver, yes it is the only motorized Oliver but people act like it's the ONLY piece of Oliver merchandise, Percy is my favorite Charcater, but im still gonna critique whatever merchandise I get of him unless it's truely amazing..

Oliver Imo, Is a Way Better Character than Duck. He is always so two-dimensional and the only thing what's good about Duck is always proud and always say his phrases the Great Western Way. As for Oliver, unlike the RWS and This is Where I have to give props to the TV series, Oliver in my opinion has a better character and has a better Journey. Not only that but he just stand up as a character then Duck. However I do definitely agree with his Tomy design it's not that good to be honest and I wish they could do better with it.

This is such a bad review because 1. I think the reason they made his wheels black because it might’ve been inspired by his rws wheels 2. The reason they stretched his boiler because they need space for the battery 3. His face looks accurate but I wish tomy do paint the mouth’s because it looks creepy in my opinion But I do agree with the running board

I was thinking that’s what most 14xx’s have in real life or that they’re going for the RWS colour of Oliver rather than his tv series green wheels. I think I would have similar issues with tomy Edward, Donald and Douglas because those boilers were also too fat. Why can’t Tomy make the sizes of their boilers be like James and have tall funnels?
