I agree with you. Its not perfect but for the price its a great model. I build models and to build one like this i would charge easily over 1000. Im very happy with mine.

100% with you on the base. I don't like the base, and don't like the saucer separation. Overall, I am happy with my Tomy Enterprise...thanks for the review.

You are welcome. Yeah, I think Tomy over-complicated things by doing the saucer separation. In my opinion, they should’ve invested the money on sturdier base instead. However, I am happy overall. The model is definitely a showstopper.

Thanks, buddy! I’m super glad I pulled the trigger. I saw this morning people going crazy on eBay over it. Some asking $2,900 and auctions going higher and higher. Now, I just need the Millenium Falcon to display beside it. 😉

The saucer section is adequately supported by the screw, screw post and the two other posts. This system will prevent saucer droop and the whole model can be displayed on the centre stand without damage. It is just more stable and less prone to being knocked over with the additional saucer support. I believe Tomy have confirmed all of this and like you, I have my Enterprise on the single stand positioned on a turntable which looks really great. Many thanks for the detailed review. Paul H

I had a problem with the saucer…. The lights on the port side did not work. They had me send the saucer back and are sending me a new saucer. I didn’t you the saucer stand either. The clear stand for the engineering hull I painted satin black and I think it looks much better! Nice review! 👍🙋‍♂️🖖🏻

Thank you! Nice idea on the stand. I also have an issue with mine. The dome by the door bay door is not lighting up. Perhaps you can see it from the video. I did not notice until someone pointed out. I also contacted customer service for assistance. Sending the entire second hull for replacement. Let’s see how long it takes.

Hope they come out with the retrofit Enterprise with the sleeker engines and the light up antenna array even though I love the classic also.

I agree, 100%. It’s not perfect but it’s close. I love it! The fact that it’s die cast metal gives it a regalness. It’s cooler than plastic. Like it’s a small version of the real thing.

I’m with you. The die-cast metal structure sets it apart from any other models. It is heavy, sturdy and well built. Plastic and resin models can look good but they are not as resilient and in some cases as premium looking as this.

I love it, they did as good as possible dealing with cast aluminum molds, to me it’s perfect, I will convert mine to USB power source, that’s the only thing they should have done ..

I feel you. I was actually thinking about it today. I had to change batteries because the originals just ran out for the secondary haul, although I hardly use the light-up feature. Regular batteries simply cannot provide enough power for extended periods of time. USB power would’ve been a great feature from the start.

Hey great review but is your dome light and lower rectangular light above the shuttle bay working? They should be lighting up.

Thanks for pointing it out. I just notice that. I changed the batteries for better ones but it did not work. I also tried to see if there is some sort of internal switch but I cannot find it. I am going to contact customer service for help. I will keep you informed. Thanks again! 😊🙏

@@jpsarri Please do! Customer service is great! There is no switch for the those lights! They should all light up when you press the button on the nacelle strut/support. But what TOMY will do is ship you a new secondary hull. Unfortunately you will have to ship yours back. At least that is what I have read so far! It's a pain but it will be worth it! Oh do not ship it back in the box you received the ship in! The box with all the graphics! That is if you want to keep the it! Because TOMY will not ship your replacement in the original box they will ship it in a new brown cardboard box. If you can just use another box to ship it back! Good luck and let me know how it goes! : ) Made me a subscriber!

You could even go bigger. The largest I’ve seen is 24 inches. Check sizes on Amazon.

@@jpsarri I didn't either, I wasn't expecting to be able to buy the Enterprise model today. I just called on a whim to see if they might put me on a waiting list; even though I'd called to try that a couple months ago and it was a no. But I figured I had nothing to lose, they transferred me to Tabitha at the outlet store and she said there was no longer a waiting list but that they did have some that were "un spoken for" as she put it. So I bought three at about $629 each. I have no idea if they have more or not, but I was sure glad to get them. I'll keep one, give one as a gift, and sell the third one, which will make the first two free and maybe even turn a small profit if I play my cards right. I asked her if I'd just lucked out or something, and she said, yeah, generally they don't have them, but things happen and most people never even call to enquire, she said, you called and enquired and your timing was perfect. Just dumb luck, and all because of an impulse call. Crazy right?

@@user-dk3up2nl1m As mentioned, I called their outlet store, you'll have to check google. I can't remember where it is but if you call one of their stores they can transfer you like they did with me. It's likely do not have any, but it never hurts to try. That's how I got mine, good luck.

I'm not happy with the screw hole plugs and the "nipple" on the underside broke off. And the color seems too dark / gray. And it's so heavy that it needs a support just for the saucer section - which obscures the side without the screw hole plugs. So I'm pretty unhappy. I'm not sure what I'll do about it. I may sell it on eBay.

I live near the Air and Space Museum where the original 11 foot model resides. As an owner of the Tomy model, I can assure you the paint and color scheme are accurate.

It is not a bad time to sell it. It seems to be on high demand right now. I kicked myself for not getting a second one for this purpose. I would hate to get rid of mine. I really like it shortcomings and all. Good luck with your decision.

It's quite amazing looking, but they weren't incredibly smart in the planning. It's a shame they didn't make the saucer lighter and with more than one screw to secure it, put the hole covers on the back side so you don't have to see them, and have a USB port so you don't have to mess with batteries and screwdrivers. As it is it's a triple play, but it could have been a walk off homerun with just a a tad more common sense and planning.

Well, Tomy/ERTL is a die-cast metal modeler company first and foremost. It is what they are familiar with. In the past, other companies did full plastic or hybrid models (plastic with metal frame) because it was easier. I guess the company wanted to try something new. In my opinion, they succeed it but with some compromises. Lesson learned for future projects. In the end, it is a step forward in modeling making. Die-cast Metal will always be more resilient and more valuable in collector’s eyes.

Tomy is a die cast metal toy company. Practically the whole model is made of metal and the thing is a beast. Being able to touch it and not feel like you're going to do any damage to it is a plus. But it's pretty much impossible to take it off the stand as a whole. The weight of it does not make it "Whooshable". Frankly I was expecting it to be more like the Eaglemoss ships where it's a mix of plastic and die cast. Certainly it would have solved some balance or weight issues, but having it all metal gives it a greater value IMO.

seriously? you expect perfection for 600 bucks? I mean even the MR Enterprise wasn't perfect and that cost 1300-1800 depending on the edition. Granted the TOMY isn't perfect but for 600 bucks you can't beat it!

To be fair, $600 is a bargain for this type of model even with its shortcomings. Most replica companies would charge you an arm and a leg for a lot less. Yes, we live in uncertain times and money doesn’t grow on trees. However, Tomy did a heck of a job on a budget. In the end, this model came really good all things considered so I am happy with my purchase.
