In this episode I show you my brand new Tone King Falcon Grande amp. Its a very simple yet super versatile amp, that gets pedals really well.
Its small format makes it a great portable amp I use a lot in Jam and guest Sessions.

I have a Falcon Grande that exact same color I was also dialing in different pedals with it today. What a coincidence. Fantastic amp.😊 Its worth every dollar I paid for it. Such a Tone machine.

Have been on the fence for months, lireraly, trying to choose my "rest of my life" amp. I've tried (and returned) all these amps (see below) for the same reasons.. tube rattle/defective, cab rattle, strange crackling noises : * Fender 68 Vibro champ * Fender 68 Princeton * Supro Amulet * Fender 65 Princeton. Yup, they all had the same QC issues.. just crazy. It's a blessing you have good return policies these days. So I decided to up my game, and go a big step above. I've been watching, reading, studying specs for months.. lots of contenders.. Carr, Mesa Boogie, Tone King, Suhr. All in the 10 to 20w range. And tonight I've finaly made up my mind.. I've just ordered the Tone King Falcon Grande in brown🎸😁 I'm kind of crazy imparient now 😖 I've been playing for 35 years and have got a bunch of very good guitars, but not the amp they deserve.. for some reason I am less inclined investing in a real "good" amp. I know this is an error. The best I had was a Mesa Boogie F30 I kept 15 years..it was really great and VERY reliable (did dozens of gigs with it). Sold it a few years back to"change".. but never found another amp that was as good (in the sub 1000€ category) All the ones I listed above were just utter crap to me (sorry for those who own them, don't want to bash anybody). How can 4 amps acquisitions in 3 or 4 months lead to each of them being defective ? It drove me crazy at some point, because they sounded good.. but Fender is really having problems with quality these days. Hope I won't be upset by Tone King. I read very very sparse bad reviews regarding quality gone down since Bartel left.. but it seems not to be so true. I'll see

@rodolpheponthus2948 3 months on what's the verdict now? I'm in a similar position - been eyeing these for years and lately was going to pickup a Supro but their QC scared me off. Was also looking at the Mesa California Tweed but those things look like a nightmare inside and the Falcon Grande has tweed tones on tap - plus Supro supposedly in the "lead" setting.

@@theyearoftherat@theyearoftherat hi there. Didn't like it. More a matter of taste, but I found the clean quite fizzy and bass heavy. The unique tone knob is a letdown in the end. And I didn't find the OD channels that good. Pretty disapointed for the price to be honest. I returned it, seemed to pay high dollars for not that much of an upgrade. I went back to a big store and tested everything. I finally chose a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV and am VERY happy with it, which I didn't expect. The cleans are amazing, don't care for the drive channel. Clean channel and a Benson Preamp pedal, never had a better sound. Add a Klon style pedal, or whatever quality drive pedal, and it's glorious, really. One tip for Hot Rod Deluxe IV users.. Plug in the input 2, with bright Switch ON, and use the tone stack (Treble -Bass -MID) between 9-10 o'clock, or 3 to 4 if you like. Best sound I've ever had. Important thing is to choose a good OD/Drive pedal, or amp in the box... Origin Effects Revival Drive or something like that. Something to sculpt your sound. Or a high quality compressor. Put the money in high grade pedals, and the HRD4 shines. And you have endless tone flexibilty. The Tone King Falcon Grande was very much a one trick pony, and a pony I didn't like very much. Not at all versatile. Be sure to try one before you buy. Good luck on your search

Is the best falcon Grande review on KZfaq, well done!!!! I owned it too, since a months and I still kind of exploring this amp! :) What kind of tubes do you recommend. Did you try some tubes out? Or did you prefer another speaker than the stock one? Thank you so much!

sounds great , but yes , it should have an tremelo circuit to be perfect , and it should be a lot cheaper : )

If you compare it to a deluxe reverb it’s not that expensive

I love Tone King amps they have really great tones for my taste. I wish I have one but they are quite expensive for my budget. At the end you said you would love to have a tremolo, so why did you choose the Falcon over the Imperial Mk II? Since the last one has tremolo and reverb. Was it the 3 voices? or the dwell? or was it something else? Another feature that I would love in these amps is an fx loop, but I guess there´s a reason for not having the fx loop. Maybe it´s because they are really commited with there tone and they don´t won´t anything interfering between the pre and the master, really don´t know just guessing... Great episode Budda cheers!

I picked this one over the imperial because of price and size. This was a thomann B-stock with a great price. This is also smaller than the imperial so more portable

I've been looking at these for years and still haven't bitten. How do you think this would fare live through a mix with a somewhat loud drummer? BTW - you have the absolute best demos.

It’s a competitor with a deluxe reverb. A lot darker than the Deluxe reverb

Hi Budda! I love how that amp sounds and I'm on the fence to buy one. Do you think it's usable as an home use amp? Does the built in ironman II it attenuates the volume for a kind of late night home playing without annoying the neighbours?

It attenuates almost to off. It’s a little dark but a great amp

I have had two Boss Katana Artist 100 MkIIs, the regular Katana 100 and 50 Mk II as well, and none sound as good for cleans. You only get worse wit the other Katana models. The Artist clean is pretty dang impressive, lacks sparkle.
