Once upon a time you used to go back over your creations with a black liner. You don’t do that anymore. What changed? Love your creations no matter what!

Back then we were very limited on black inks that worked with alcohol markers. Most of them weren't very black and we couldn't stamp multiple times like with the MISTI to darken it up. I still do occasionally do the outlines but I find myself mostly just stamping it again.

I love the background. I think we all have that 1 or more cards we wish we could have done differently. A lot of the time what we start out making doesn’t end up what we originally planned. I was making cards yesterday and out of pure laziness I didn’t want to set up my machine to use embossing folders to create. After 4 cards I clearly wasn’t happy and couldn’t pull them apart so I stopped creating. Today I got everything out and did 12 cards the right way. It is what it is lol

Beautiful card! The pink flowers are pretty, but I agree that orange really would've popped. I like that you share your "mistakes" or what you would have done differently if you were to make the card again. I think it's a great learning/teaching moment for cardmakers of all experience levels. I always tried to do the same thing when I used to make videos. However, I got a lot comments about how I was too hard on myself or shouldn't be down on myself too, which really kinda irked me because I was trying to teach people what they could do differently instead of tossing a card (which I know some people do!) or what they could do to make a card slightly different from the one I showed or maybe even better than the one I shared, since I was learning from my experience as well. It is what it is, I guess. You can't please everyone.

Kelly, that background cover plate design turned out gorgeous!! Putting in the shadows totally changed it from good to Wow! I really like this stamp set of yours and hope I can get it. Maybe for my birthday! I usually do not mind the white “frame” from dies but I made a card today where it really bugged me. If you remember, I am the colored pencil person, so I tried coloring the white space with my pencils just as you do, matching the background color. The white totally disappeared and the effort worked perfectly! Thanks so much for teaching us how to do that. I always look forward to watching your videos. You are one of my two favorite sites. ❤

Lovely card. I like the colour of the flowers but I see your point. For me, my “growing pains” will be getting back in the craft room. I haven’t made a card in AGES because I’ve made some scrapbooks (been learning how to make the structure and haven’t been doing the stuff I love like using HB’s lovely layers), I started (but haven’t finished) making two scrapbooks for some small kids whose mother died of breast cancer a few weeks ago, and - here’s the real barrier - I moved house. So I had to pack up my craft room. And I’m currently in the process of unpacking it and organising in a new location. Trying to recapture the level of organisation I had before I moved in 2022 and hopefully make it better this time around. But oh, the work. Sigh. I really miss cardmaking. And I’ve learnt the part of crafting I love best involves the skills used on cards. So if I make a scrapbook that I’m going to enjoy making it’ll take FOR-EV-AAAAR because it takes a lot of those bits to make a page! Still, I’m getting there. And the reason it’s so hard to organise everything - I know! - is because I’m so spoilt. I’ve been buffeted by life over decades so hubby considers it an investment in me and, to some degree I think, compensation for all the sacrifices I made for him and our kids over the years. Which is all lovely. And talk about a first world problem!!!!
