Surprising for an El Degas. Really tenon in mortise / solid mahogany. The Japanese as so good at attention to detail ... they must have read the Gibson catalogue ... which states 24 3/4" as the scale ... length. When .. in fact ... the scale length is actually 24 5/8 "

I'd be afraid of sanding right through the fret position markers. It really is amazing how far off the bridge post anchors were. Nice work.

So many great memories triggered watching this one. Plus the wonderful new practical teaching and beautiful sounds you somehow get into every video! What a gift! Merry Christmas to you and family Mike. One of the favourite guitars I’ve ever played was a buddy’s ‘56 LP Special back some forty-five years ago. And then the funny part around the same time was drilling into a new project body and discovering the mill chuck had not been secured properly into the drive head, gravity & rpm dropped it right through while I was thinking I was pulling up. That little disaster did help my quality control over the next forty years though, never trust a previous setup, always check everything.

I thought Tone Pro wrap around bridges had individual saddle adjustments for setting up intonation mine does and all the other ones that I have seen on KZfaq do. Your bridge in this video is not like that at all. Great video very interesting and informative if I was so old I could see myself learning how to do that would need a good teacher though lol.

Not sure what make of bridge that is, but Music City Bridge makes a compensated tailpiece called The Savvy that looks very similar to that; I've had excellent luck with it on my Special

I have seen Gibson screw-ups like this many time, for the life of me I could never understand how that happened.

This was actually a LP Copy. But .... yes .... I have had may Gibsons over the years that didn't quite get the bridge in the right place too.

I’m building a les Paul kit w p90s like a 54 Goldtop. I love look of the wrap around only and I play slide so the added sustain would compliment from a wrap around. But I also need to have accurate intonation. Would modern wrap around like the MojoAxe be the way to go or stick to reliable tunomatic & stoptail? I’m ok if it then looks like a 57 if that turns out to be the better choice. Thank you

I am assuming that you want to use the guitar for both conventional playing AND slide. If that is the case, then set it up with whatever tunomatic or "sculpted single piece " bridge that you choose. Of course, You determine the intonation ... each time you move the slide. Good Luck !
