If I might elaborate on that: Jay is the perfect combination of well spoken, straight to the point, informative and an excellent player and actor hired to sell this particular brand of pickups. Wow. I like to swap pickups every once in a while for fun. Nothing, not one single little thing in the intricacies of R&D development of pickups should ever warrant a price like this. From a business point of view, I kind of respect it tbh: just ask a crazy price and a bunch of people will believe it's _gotta_ be worth it, right?

I really liked the punchy set...I am just starting out my journey and starting it on a Tele copy that will require new pickups as I advance. I'm mostly a Classic Rock/Blues Rock/ Southern Rock fan, so I think the punchy or blues sets are more in my wheelhouse. This video really has helped me with what I may be looking for in the future. Thanks.

Magnificent playing! I have many Telecasters - all with slightly different sounds-making a choice of these four pickup combos more difficult because I first have to identify what's missing from the instrument sounds I have. Each demo led me to say - "yeh I could use that"...then the next demo and "yeh" again. So I'm more perplexed than clear on anything. However - first inkling is to go punchy. I think the added power would add an element to my Tele sound spectrum. Very preliminary thought however. Your playing makes me want to crawl into a hole and never come out. (40 years of string wrestling). Thanks for the video

Man, I love to see all this love for Telecasters! I honestly can’t afford to buy Fenders, but I have an 8yo Squier in vintage butterscotch, which I’m putting pickups into it from a 2021 model Bullet Telecaster, and I have an Artist clone, which has dual humbuckers in it, and I’m building a Tele kit in zebra wood and using Tonerider Hot Classics, and I now have a thin line clone which I’ll probably eventually throw new pickups into. I’d really like to build a Nashville Tele with a tremolo bridge in a relic style, and I’d love to build a John 5 signature copy which uses the 3 humbuckers. One day I might be able to afford a Tele, I’d like an 80’s model in butterscotch, or blonde, but I’m a lefty so it won’t happen. I’m already planning out a build on a sea foam green vintage style with binding, and a bunch of trick parts, and probably a Strat neck, just for something different lol.
@headly21
@headly21 2 жыл бұрын
Man, with all the piece-parts and supplies you're getting to build those other Tele clones, you can probably afford to buy one. Have you added up all the money you've spent on those builds? I'm on my second build now and just the cost of the raw ash body and the unfinished maple neck set me back about $300. Then there's all the finishing supplies (lacquer, sanding materials, etc.), the hardware, and the pickups.

This is a GREAT video. The pickups all sound very different. I’d get the 52 Twang for originally Tele sounds and 51 Jazz for a second Tele to play… jazz. I like the Rock ones too, but I’d stick with a Strat for that kind of sound. Again… fantastic video (and killer playing man… super talented!). Edit: Holy moly, these are expensive pickups! They’re all $395 in October 2023. Yikes!

Really nice man. You bring those pickups to life. It's all about the twang when it comes to the tele for me. I have plenty of guitars, but I have four sets of pickups for my tele. :) Pole magnets, bottom magnets, over wound and under wound at the bridge. Mine is cut for a P90 at the neck and the staple pickup rules. I hate muddy pickups, they go straight into the "not quite ready to throw them out" parts box.
