The greatest Soprano and the greatest Tenor of our time singing side by side - what a combination !Of course, Anna has changed a bit from the one who waltzed across the stage singing: Meine Lippen sie küssen so heiß, never missing a beat.

These "Gala" performances should be seen for what they are: giant parties where all should have fun. It was great fun hearing them singing (in English) this American piece. I don't see them singing together in the foreseeable future. Netrebko is now singing Elsa, a future Lohengrin? Wonder if Kundry is too low for her? Don't see her as Desdemona. As for Kaufmann, his best partner (dream-pair) is Harteros in anything they do (Tosca, Forza, Chenier, Lohengrin).

Should have stayed on JUST Jonas and Ana! They don't need anyone else for God sakes! DO OVER...PLEASE!!! Just Kaufmann and Netrebko!

Take a simple song, but when Anna and Jonas sing it, it turns into an Aria. Moreover, no power of the Orchestra or voices of other singers participating prevents Anna's voice from being heard. Her voice has that rare quality of being able to PIERCE through the "wall" of sounds surrounding her. Her voice cannot be denied.

Jeg oppfatter å hører Netrebko som en veldig tung betong sopran (russisk)når en hører på hennes La Boheme er det nærliggende å spørre ,er det samme damen,den varme fra bohem til den stemmen nu,hva har skjedd??? Callas og Flagstad liker

La Netrebko ne chante pas toujours juste. Qu'elle manque de subtilité, on le sait, mais qu'elle chante faux, c'est quand même un comble à son niveau.

BelCanto BigFan C'est bien ce qui m'agace chez elle. Quand elle n'a pas envie de se donner de la peine, elle fait n'importe quoi, ce qui témoigne d'un certain mépris pour son public.

NOT written for operatic voices. All the emotion....zero feeling. They're supposed to be poor teenagers.......

Kaufmann is outstanding ... but Netrebko just isn't right as Maria - and the orchestra was all over the map (I blame the conductor). Overall, not great.

Generally agree- it is one of those "gala only" pieces that are fun. I would be surprised if it was rehearsed more than one run through.
