What exactly did he do to stop the pain tho? I had a bulging disc pressing on the sciatic nerve. Had an outpatient microdiscectomy. Then eventually a fusion.

You're lucky in the US. My doctor here in the UK has told me "There's nothing that can be done for sciatica, it's a chronic - life long illness. Managing the pain is the best you can hope for - go buy yourself some paracetamol". End of discussion. I can barely walk. I'm housebound.
