I hate the criticism of crossroads, it was a warm family show and unlike the shows today like eastenders and corrie wasn't full of hate and violence, loved watching with my grandparents ❤️

The fact Crossroads is still talked about fondly suggests that time in the end has been kind to it. It's downfall sadly was when Noéle was fired, then a further cull with Glenda, Kevin, David and Barbara were written out as Central attempted to make the show appear more slick and professional in their eyes, taking away everything we enjoyed about it in the first place.

Thought Tony was very negative about the show, the viewers loved it and I was one of them.

'Coronation Street' had exactly the same mistakes as 'Crossroads'', I remember colour episodes of 'Coronation Street' with shadows of microphone's showing also grey Granada TV camera lenses slightly in shot. 'Crossroads' was a lovely show, far better than soaps today with the constant rows etc, the whole family could watch 'Crossroads'. I have a DVD 'Crossroads' volume. 2' and in one story Benny has to break the news to friends that his wife to be has been killed in an accident, the 6 actors involved were all superb in the episode, actors included Sally Adcock as Jane Smith, and Carney played by Jack Woolgar, the DVD also included the Crossroads fire, to this day the story and the inferno scenes were so well done, (the episode ending minus the 'Crossroads' theme), that episode is now 40 years old and still stands up as a wonderful episode. In it's heyday 'Crossroads' attracted 15 million viewers so they did something right. As a final comment, I remember 'Coronation Street' in the 70's and sometimes filming on the out door brick built set clearly showed that the outdoor set had no chimney pots on the roofs!
