In one of his last interviews, Tony Curtis spoke with VF west coast editor Krista Smith at the TCM Film Festival in April 2010.

He was #1 back when only 10 superstars exsisted. Tony Curtis was the best actor of his time, I miss him already and can not wait for all his old movies to start playing now that he is gone. Thanks for the memories Tony!

He will always be one of the greatest actors there ever was Hollywood is a joke now. It was a great time then all of the best came out of that era..Todays Hollywood wouldnt know what to do with such an A-list actor! He was so gorgeously handsome. I wish he could be regenerated today. R.I.P Tony 🌹

He is an Ahole and a mean person for saying that Marilyn would be nothing today. SERIOUSLY that was MEAN! HE WAS JEALOUS OF MARILYN BECAUSE SHE STAYED "ALIVE" FOREVER! While he was still alive and allready forgoten. And I have heard him in other interviews saying that Marilyn never forgot about how she was used sexually in order to make it in hollywood. NOONE forgets something like that. The man is SICK. Also he has talked about Marilyn and her appearance many times. Saying that other women were more beautiful and that A LOT of women were as pretty as her. That is rude to say about someone who was making a living and was FAMOUS because of their looks. It is rude to say that about Marilyn! Who does he think that he is?

My point is obvious: I disagree with your prior comment on this page that "a no talent with a New York accent like" Tony Curtis could not get cast, on that talent. TC's career demonstrates super talent, a mercurial ability to fully become each character in the vast array of roles he has played over his career. For example, his "New York accent" like Kirk Douglas's did not stop either actor from being great and convincing in The Vikings ... with no Scandinavian accents by anyone in that film.
@reginarutledge784 жыл бұрын
It's not that diffucult to learn other accents when you have an acting coach.

How could "a no talent with a New York accent like" Tony Curtis get roles in Roman Empire films? Same way Kirk Douglas did; and same way both these actors were cast in 1956 Hollywood film The Vikings, and both acted plausibly and superbly in it. Nor did ancient Romans speak with British accents, as in all modern English-language film and drama of that era and place they are portrayed doing.

As I said nothing about actors being "owned" or not by the studios, you're ranting to the wrong commenter.

When I was little I thought he was the most handsome man ever. I had such a crush on him. But when he got much older he just became an obnoxious idiot and now it's hard to reconcile the young TC with who he is now. He is hard to like, at least from this distance. He is crude and needs to leave Marilyn out of it, she didn't even like him.
@songbirdy3 жыл бұрын
@kiranjit rana She sure didn't appreciate him saying kissing her was like kissing Hitler. She was totally pissed. And I saw him in interviews many years later. He was not very nice. He seemed bitter. Very unlikable and he rather disappointed me although he personally didn't owe me anything. I was just a fan who once adored him and his movies. But he talked crappy about MM in those later interviews which was classless of him IMO.
