Tony Hawk Pro skater 5 is basically Superman 64 with skateboards

14:08 is actually exactly what happened. Activision pulled the trigger on THPS5 in November of 2014, giving the devs about 9 months to publish the game. THPS games take at least a year to make, so of course they didn't finish it. They actually didn't even have enough time to put the game on the discs they sold, the discs only contained the demo. That massive day one patch was, in reality, THE ENTIRE GAME. They had to keep working on it literally until launch day. And Activision released the game ONE DAY before their contract expired. The reason the game feels shitty and unfinished is because it's literally unfinished.

Seriously thank you for actually calling out Robomodo as opposed to just Activision like a lot of people seem to be. People seem to forget that nothing about the way THPS5 plays is any worse than HD - it's just that HD had the benefit of reusing levels that had been expertly designed as opposed to thrown together in a complete mess (and somehow they still managed to make those old levels feel... off somehow). Going back and playing through 3 and 4, it's amazing how well those games still hold up. This isn't a rose-tinted glasses thing, those games are fucking great. The reason people grew sick of THPS wasn't because the games were bad, it was just over saturation on Activision's part. This is the first outright bad game in the Tony Hawk series (unless you count HD - Ride and Shred are different things, even if they're still god awful). Seriously though, who looked at Ride, Shred and HD and thought "Let's give those guys another shot!"? severely fucking depressing. Hacks is the right word to describe the people at Robomodo.

I'd ask fl1ppy to make glitch videos on this game like he does in Saints row, like how to get out of the map for example, but I found a great way how to do it myself! Step 1: Turn on the game (this part is hard because you need to own this garbage game in the first place) Step 2: Play for 5 minutes And then you should be out of the map!

I love that with the growing head missions, you have to stop your combo so your head doesn't explode.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 disc literally only contains the tutorial. the first update is the actual game... RoboModo decided to release the disc early and then put the rest of it online on the last day that they owned the rights to it.

I just realized how similar this game is to movies like Jack and Jill where it's basically just a money laundering scheme with a false visage of a consumer product pasted on top. Anyone who treats it like an actual consumer product is only fooling themselves, the actual customer was never ever considered as part of the equation in the development of this game.

This is easily the best review I have ever seen for any game on KZfaq, honestly. I truly hope that it was all Activision forcing this upon Robomodo to force this shit upon us, because I'd feel a bit better about Robomodo as a game developing company. It's fantastic that they tried to bring the early 2000s Tony Hawk vibe back and actually took input from us, the fans, but they utterly failed their goal in the end. As a longtime fan of the series, I bought this game knowing that it had the potential to make Ride look stellar and obviously it did; hell, it even made Shred look perfect. I sincerely hope that we receive an apology for this "masterpiece" because if not, this game will leave a bad taste in my mouth for years to come.

Oh btw, that 7.6GB patch that you have to download, contains all the other features of the game. If you open the game without the patch, it’s literally just park editor. That’s right. The 7.6GB patch is the FULL GAME.

My Dearest Flippy, War is hell. jk Real comment: When I first started watching your videos I was well into playing SR4, and might have just picked up SR3. Your videos convinced me to pick up SR2. Since I started with SR4 and worked backwards I can fully appreciate all 3 games since they never "let me down," despite witnessing how superior SR2 is in many ways and how much there is to *actually do* in it. But this? THPS? This hit home. Since the original game which I still love, to THPS2, to the PS1 ports of 3 &4 , to THUG and finally getting the PS2 versions of 3 & 4, to the "Ron Stoppable meets Suzy" voice overs in American Wasteland, THIS was my series. It was so much of growing up. And when these THPS 5 reviews started coming out, that was it. That was the last let down. Dead. No more nails to put in the coffin. It's just terrible and I'm sorry you have to be in the same boat as me. (I didn't know you played these.) PS: REVERT IS FUCKING R1 NOW?!?!?!!?

I still play THPS2 on my N64 & enjoy the hell out of it. That game has the option to create your own skater from scratch, and doesn't feature player models sinking into the ground like quick sand. I hate this trend of releasing games that are broken/unfinished and we have to pray that a big ass patch comes in to "fix" the game. Games should be finished & complete before initial release.

A lesson to be learned: The big companies only care about money and are willing to release shit to get it. I really feel indie developers and fans are taking over the market.

The biggest problem with THPS5 was that it was an instant turn-off for most of the series' fans from the moment it was announced. Even before it was even made and only existed as an announced title, RoboModo claimed they were going back, throwing it back to the earliest period of the franchise. The problem with that is that THUG1 - Proving Ground set precedents with mechanics that could never reversed or removed or gone back on. Larger levels (in some cases all strung together on one massive map), getting off of the board, riding other vehicles, Create-A-Skater, character interaction and so on...all gone. RoboModo's take on "going back" killed this game before it ever came out, never mind the monstrosity the game actually became. Not even the TMNT could save it LOL

There's something really creepy and surreal about a level full of a bunch of frozen Tony Hawks.
