When the game was released, the ollies were pretty low which felt weird for a TH game but it worked because the levels were designed with that lower ollie in mind. Two months or so after release, they updated the game and boosted the ollie way too much which basically made the game impossible to play as the levels were designed around the original ollie height, and now you just ollied over everything whether you want to or not.

The only good thing about THPS5 was that it had new building materials for custom skateparks and you could tweak the location of said objects a lot more. The downside on my XBOX 360 was that when I would save a park I created it would create two files of it and if I opened either one the character would be stuck in an object bouncing back and forth. My favorite thing about the Tony Hawk games was building my own parks and THPS5 had the new stuff I was looking for, it would have been close to perfect for me aside of the previously mentioned flaw as well as a location not being able to hold enough stuff and one other detail I can't remember, it's been awhile since I played it.

Honestly the game isn’t bad for a mobile game IMO, if they fix a couple things here and there I think it would feel like a THPS for your phone

I only remember THPS2 having one game breaking bug, but it only happened seldomly. I have no idea what triggered it, but you essentially bail and just get stuck sliding around like the game forgot to make you stand up. But you can’t control yourself at all either.

Number 1 thing that matters in a Skate game, controls. In this game its almost impossible to even Ollie where you want to.

I bought Wakeboarding Unleashed for the Ps2 today at a thrift store. It's actually pretty fun and more or less follows the pro skater template. I thought it would be a good game for you to review for the channel. It's not a perfect game but it's fun and I think it's better than some of the other games you've reviewed lol.

The thing with skate jam is that everything that is in it is from the 3 skateboard party game, the level are exactly the same, the character are the same etc.

Hey man, I can totally understand your feelings about this game. I've beaten it about a year ago when it was released for Android (iOS version came out earlier back in 2018). Normally I don't play any mobile games, as a hardcore gamer I play on pc and consoles and never viewed mobile games as smth worth my attention. But as a huge TH fan I tried Skate Jam and it had me playing it for about a month So, first thing I'd like to mention is the tutorial. I was confused by this Hawk meter task too, but in reality all you have to do once you fill it is press this Hawk icon. Too bad the game doesn't explain it. It works the same way as Special in THUG2, sending your character into some slow-mo state and giving you chance to rack up big scores. You can literally score up to million points and even more in this Hawk mode. Your character for a short period of time BECOMES Tony himself, so you can make huge combos riding like a pro. It really helps on later stages Second thing is related to emulation. I've beaten the game on my phone, but I wanted to check if I can get it running on pc. So I got an emulator called Tencent Gaming Buddy. It is quite famous due to the fact that many Asian gamers prefer playing PUBG Mobile on pc. So I downloaded both the emulator and the game and it worked pretty fine, had no any problems with sound and never had any issues about suddenly switching from windowed to full screen modes. Yes, I admit, the game is built to be a time sink with all those boosters, timers, in-app purchases and ads. But it's done neatly and isn't forcing you too much to use them. I never bought a thing there. My goal was to beat all the tournaments which I achieved. The main impression from the game for me was that it felt kinda like THPS1 with all those limitations in terms of trick variety. Throughout the years classic Tony Hawk game formula got so complicated that it was difficult to imagine how it would play without some things you already consider indispensable. And also I liked level design, the way stages looked, but, unfortunately, often got myself stuck in geometry too P.S. still never played any mobile game after beating Skate Jam :)

@6:50 actually.. that's probably not tin foil hat stuff at all, as typically mobile game statistics are being analysed to figure out the 'player patience' with a system that's really designed around making them (more) money. That's the business model with free to play. There are hardly any free to play games that don't mess with the player experience to encourage you to either spend money or watch ads. Unfortunately... mobile games like this are pretty bad in that sense.

look; you got 10-20 developers working on thug pro who know pro skater inside and outside. Get them a budget and make a game that doesn't suck.

Decided to download the game while watching the video cause I wasnt aware it's a free to play. So you can definitely beat the tutorial. You just have to tap the hawk meter when it's full lol. So not sure if it was possible while using the emulator. I mean games meh. But like you said, it doesnt really improve on anything we havent already played. As always, great video.

Hey I had a pair of trucks called zrollers back in the day u should see what u cant find out about em. My shop sponsor gave em to me they were part of his collection. They basically had roller on the truck that allowed you to "grind" anything. Ofc I tore em up like a dummy.

Use nox app player radrat. I had bluestacks and had a alto of issues after a month or so. Nox uses less CPU and just all around runs smoother for me...just a suggestion to try out

I thought the jams were the easiest part of the game. Trying to bounce around the do the real goals were the worst. I also played on pc through emulator. Very frustrating how you can get the other skate party games through Xbox for windows but not this one

It's just skateboard part 1, 2, and 3. But worse. Of course it worse as it has no effort when it's a bundle of the previous games so they hate you thinking you wouldn't figure it out.

This game is the same as Mike Vallley's Skateboard Party. Skateparty has no adds. To get high combos you have to get in a tight ramp and or hop in the moddle of the ramp to keep the combo going. Doing a lot of kick flip to grab spins helps build up your score. The games playable on android from google play.

I played this game for a while last year and then gave up on it. Seemed cool at first then it just gets ridiculously glitchy.

This is why I play True Skate. To me it’s the best skate sim as your thumbs are your feet and it’s feels realistic. I mean hell I’ve liked it so much ive boughten every park and played it for the past four years. Since playing it tbh I’ve been turned off from other skate games cause I love how this works so much. I sound like a douchebag as guy (sorry) but I do enjoy it. Working on an edit that I’ve been working on since September of last year that should be uploaded hopefully this month to my channel I do have some clips I ripped raw from that edit to my channel if ya wanna some dope stuff. Theirs also two True Skate groups on Facebook you should join that are pretty dope. I think their the only two... at least active one lol one has triple digit members and the other has like 30 or close to.

i played this game a couple months ago and i don't remember the tutorial being broken. (i played on iOS, maybe that's why) Anyway it's just trying to pull money out of your pocket, if you were to buy all in app purchases(outfits, characters, decks etc.) you would spend several hundred $'s for a bunch of useless stuff. i got all of that for free cause of my jailbroken phone, but if i spent money on this game i would be so pissed off.

Yeah I played that last year in 2019 and it’s pretty fun..but the missions can be pretty hard. It’s also a pay-to-win. It’s a decent game overall though but gets boring quick

Things to change and fix Tony Hawk's Skate Jam since it's pretty much a rebranded Skateboard Party game 1. Retitle it "Skateboard Party 4 ft: Tony Hawk 2. Have free mode already an option without having to unlock 3. Add a couple of new features or a couple of new tricks 4. Make new parks to skate and maybe add in a park or two from the original games 5. Dont have it built on ads

This game really looks slow and the ollies look super high. And you address it eventually. But it really looked wrong right from the start.

This game is much better than THPS5. You can beat it without spending a penny, and even if you spent _some_ money on it to make it less frustrating, you still wind up paying less than what Activision charges you for their pathetic joke of a "game." Plus, unlike THPS5, people actually PLAY Skate Jam to this day! What's it going to be? A 60 dollar game with dead servers that you need a huge patch to even play properly, or a mediocre mobile game? In another review they mention how the levels in this game are stolen from Skateboard Party, which is really scummy, but it still doesn't compare to what Activision did.

A mediocre game got destroyed by typical microtransaction nonsense. Nah, it's a pass for me at that point. Free to play or not. At that point I prefer spending $10-25 bucks instead and just have proper access to everything. Although, to be fair, this game isn't remotely close to the older THPS games that played well. Disappointing stuff. Even though I'm good with games like Session and Skater XL for now.

good review. mobile gaming really needs a different title at this point. it's not gaming, it's gambling with a mini game. it's 95% gimmick 5% you controlling something on the screen. want to shoot something? buy the gun..want a sword? buy one...getting killed too quickly? buy armor. And even worse, actual console and pc games are copying the trend. just put out good, finished games from the start.

THPS 5 never worked it would crash every time on PS4. It wasn’t only a cash grab, it’s also defamation of character for Tony. I contacted Sony to delist the game because it literally never worked and thus Activision literally stole my money, it pisses me off till this day.

I knew people thought TH5 was bad, but if it is worse than that mobile game you just played. I'll just replay the old ones

It doesn’t just reuse level designs it literally straight up reuses entire levels from all of the games, none of them are original to the game. Literally the other original part is the music and Tony’s character model. And they even made the game worse. The original game allowed you to free skate the levels as soon as unlocked, but in this one you have to 100% the level to free skate.

I haven't played THPS5, but I can't imagine any skate game being worse than Skate Jam. It's sooooo bad.

This game is trash, it's pretty much Skateboard Party Trilogy with so many ads, microtransactions, added glitches, added nonsense the original skateboard party games didn't have. These are the exact same levels, tricks and character models from the first 3 Skateboard Party games but with more glitches. At least the first 3 games weren't bombarded with Ads and DLC, Microtransactions that required real money. It was like THPS 1 and 2. You get a set of level goals, you collect letters, hidden icons for new boards and hardware, get high scores, You would get experience points to level up the stats for your character and to buy new boards and hardware. You did have an *optional* video ad to double the points. No fans, no enter a skate jam, no play to play boosts, no tutorial (had free skate mode), no expensive package deals, no nonsense. The first 3 games are straight forward and fun. I have all of them and actually beat them all.

This game is worse than Skateboard Party 1,2,3. This game is like all 3 games mashed together - characters, levels, assets and all with extra bugs and buggy level up "freemium" DLC features that weren't in the first 3 games. Also I have the Windows Phone versions of Skateboard Party and they don't have Ads at all. This game just has so much DLC pay to play features and unnecessary things like getting fans, lvl ups, buy this and that that make the game unplayable and it's all sloppy put together. Some of those bugs you are showing and lame features, I never experienced and they aren't in the Skateboard Party series. In fact I beat all 3 games.
