The flaw in your logic is very easily exposed when you ask the question what Tony would have done if the mind controlled person was Happy or Pepper or someone he knew and had a strong positive personal connection with.

Stark shouldn't be blamed here, and neither should Barnes, too. So, for Stark, they've known for 4 years now. Yet when he found out within those 4 years that Rogers also found out when he woke up that his own best friend took out Stark's parents, he felt betrayed. As for Barnes, he never knew what he was doing, either, since he was brainwashed and did what he was told without asking questions.

If you look real closely or pause at the right time when Tony’s about to engage at Bucky 3:36, you can see a tear in Bucky’s eye. Bucky clearly at this point has tremendous guilt for killing Tony’s parents, including Howard who knew both Steve and Bucky, even though he was brainwashed by HYDRA. Poor Bucky. 😢

to think steve knows from the start, since winter soldier movie. this fight could never happened if he told tony from the get go and let his anger and anguish simmer down. he could have explain and let tony digest that information. Tony stark has a big heart, he need to mourn for a bit before settling in mind that he can help steve retrieving bucky. we know tony would forgive bucky as he did to others. especially how he forgive steve and the other avengers who fought with him in that ending stone retrieval,. despite the other haven't ask an apology in return. its just sad that this could had been prevented.

Cap is selfish as much as we as humans can understand his reasoning for not wanting to straight up tell his good friend about how his parents were murdered he was in the wrong for holding back. You could see how Tony is much more in rage than just seeing that it was Bucky. Maybe that’s why the nod to Caps eyes is a strong detail.

I mean, that's the point: heroes are heroes, yes, but they’re still human and vulnerable to influences of self-desire. Even Steve Rogers, "the greatest man on Earth", has that darkness inside of him. Steve knows that he not only failed Tony, but he also failed himself and Erskine, which is part of the reason that he abandoned the shield: he was no longer worthy of being Captain America. He even admits to being wrong later on. Endgame is where we see Steve redeem himself. Not _absolve,_ mind you, but redeem.

Initially yes but I think Steve would've been able to convince him to stand down during the "he was brainwashed" part. Yeah, fuck Captain America. Friend kills tony's parents and he's supposed to just "let it slide bro"? Only reason he won the fight is because of plot armor and bucky was there, iron man would destroy him in canon.

No. You’re missing the point. Bucky was mind controlled to kill Tonys parents, ultimately stripping him of his free will. Cap saved Bucky because he knew Bucky never a choice. Tony, while justified in his anger, in his resurfaced grief would not see past the surface because he never got to make amends before he last saw them and their deaths pushed him into his initial path becoming a narcissist. While Tony is wrong here, Steve is also wrong because Steve knew…..and chose not to say anything, protecting himself from the potential damage he knew this would cause. Then Bucky is the biggest hurt person in this because he’s haunted every moment of every day with actions that HE committed but had no free will in, making the fight between these three exactly what it was meant to be, heartbreaking.

@@Dmm314 how did Tony not find out about this earlier tho if Black Widow leaked everything to the world a couple years earlier? Knowing that Tony’s parents were associated with Hydra, wouldn’t that information about Bucky killing his parents have been leaked too? Wouldn’t Tony want to/had already read the leaks and what it revealed about his parents?? Why didn’t the avengers review all of it during Age of Ultron? Shouldn’t Tony have the resources and intelligence to access to all that stuff how did he not see this earlier about how Bucky killed his parents??
