PLEASE READ REGARDING BERRIES! It seems like with patch 1.4 they have nerfed the Berry income from the Farms SIGNIFICANTLY! I am still trying to figure out how bad it is. But even 4 Berry farms can't keep up with my Hungry Pals at the base anymore, which makes other recipes even more important!

BIGGEST TIP; use cotton candy to 'filter' your food baskets! Place the staple food in the leftmost slot, then one cotton candy in every other slot. Cotton candy doesn't decay, and your pals will bring food to the cooler instead, which should have a Vanwyrm Cryst to keep it cold all day and night as it's a dark type. Kind of a janky fix until they implement filtering/dedicated slots but it's better than nothing.

A lot of people dont realize the pals eat only the leftmost food item from the feed box

If you aren't breeding; just keep the area clear of pals, and you can store your cake in the storage there, and it negates decay.

Ive had some pretty great success with marinated mushrooms. I just happened to set up my first base in a little forrest clearing where mushrooms are plentiful. By sheer happenstance, this made getting good food really easy.

0:32 the clicking one character a ton problem is solved by using the feed bag, which will automatically use any food placed in it when either you or your pals get hungry

Fun fact, a tier 2 kindling with no extra passive is still faster than a tier 1 kindling with artisan.

Re: Mushrooms: While you can't mass-produce them, if you set up a base behind the desolate church (which you may want to do anyway because it's a great spot for ores and is already partly sheltered on two sides which will cut down on what defenses you have to build) it's a natural mushroom patch. I've noticed that my gatherer pals will pick the mushrooms when I'm not there and just start cramming them into the feed basket. It's not a TON of extra mushrooms, but it gives me enough to make them a viable bulk-feed option that I can switch to intermittently, when I start running out of something else.

Omelets are a very good early game food. All you need is the farm pen, a chickpea, and a cooking fire. You can get lots of eggs, cook them up as quickly as the berries can be cooked, and not need all of the various pals normally needed for the fields.

Random but, a chikipi with 100% work speed, 4 star and max work speed from souls makes 3-4 eggs every 40 sec. Mushroom pumps it to 35 sec. From my test, 40 sec is softcap. Good luck fellow food crunchers

Cook berries with chickpea meat gives a buff to make work harder. Probably the easiest to make in the beginning.

If you want to get mushrooms, go to the area with the red trees in the beginning with the first tower. There are loads of mushrooms there, as well as the yellow area to the left of it as well. I've also been going to the island to the right of the starting point, and getting a bunch of Rushroar, Chikipi, Lamball and even Mammorest meat. Which is very helpful for the pals! (I'm trying to level up my pals, so my level 15 fire pals do decent towards mammorest.)

Tip for player food pouches. I have four out of the five but I only put berries or jam buns in the first one. The other two slots I use for honey and cotton candy. You don't get as much hunger back from them but they don't spoil so there's no danger of running out of food if you're out for a long time.

even without kindling the food cooks very slowly on its own, i make like 10 pots and start a bunch of cakes at once, they're ready when i need em.

Personally I always go straight to the Salad as by time I get a base up and actually running, I have it unlocked already. Doing so, I save my Eggs, Milk, and Wheat/Flour for Cakes to breed with.

In order to keep pal sanity up i always feed them cotton candy with berries to the right of them in case i run out.

I got a Jormungtide Ignis (Kindling lvl 4) with Artisen lvl 3 makes cakes in seconds and throws out ingots faster then you can count.

I agree with your picks. Though I think the pancakes are still a good option because they make their san meter drop slower. But imo the best food for your pals is salad. Salad gives a massive amount of nutrition sitting at 84, it doesn't take that long to cook, it restores 11 san, and it also increases their work speed. Soooo good.

Honestly/personally I’d stick with baked berries until you can get tomatoes because breeding is extremely useful so you’d wanna save all cake ingredients then move into the salad when possible instead of berries, the best cook/kindling would definitely have to be Jormuntide Ignis which I have like 4 of (you only actually need like 2 in a base that’s running fire based things) and I got them from just patrolling around the volcano for huge (maybe it’s from large eggs idr) scorching eggs

The plaxea I recommend for finding musbrooms is the red forest northwest of spawn and the gold forest west of spawn (the small settlement is in it). Checking both areas can give you at least 150 mushrooms on a single run checking both areas and picking up everything.

I hope they change the decay rate on food, 10-20 minutes for the food is way too fast, especially when your ice pal keeping the fridge cool goes to sleep and all the food in the fridge starts ticking down...

I created my base at a mountaintop across a bridge, there's TONS of mushrooms in my base that grow everyday. Probably 12 mushroom locations, so 24 mushrooms per day. still it isn't enough, I wish the devs added Mushroom Plantations. Regardless, the Pizza may actually be the best mid-late game, (requires Electric Kitchen), but it gives lots of nutrition, work speed buff, and staves off hunger, so like a small percentage of hunger loss reduction, similar to dainty eater passive skill.

you built your base where I build my base. big question, where do you get your ores nearby?

There’s a bug, where they’ll eat only 1 berry to be 50% full they work a little bit, get hungry again, the cycle keeps going where nothing is done.

mushrooms are common in the higher "yellow/orange tree " Area. i go up there and i can just gater them pretty easily. not sure what the region is called though but it has the thunder mouse

I think the whole food systen is pretty janky still (which is fine all part of early access). I've watched the timer reset itself without me doing anything, and not just sorting it resets it but moving to another chest or inventory etc. resets the timer. But whats a bit annoying is more often than not the green/blue tier meats I cook for myself dissappear from my coolbox even though my Vanwyrm Cryst is cooling it. Grey level food items seem to dissapear less so maybe jam donuts are the way to go :) Awesome to know about the only feeding to half way and from the left... makes sense why ALL my Digtoise do is fkn eat baked berries all day!

you may want to add detail about how to fill all six boxes of the feed box to prevent raw goods from being delivered to it. Even if only one cooked item in each of the right boxes, they will block your pals from dropping off eggs wheat etc. Have your raw goods go elsewhere so you can cook it.

You can put food in your inventory right under your Charakter and the pals will be fed automatically. You do not have to feed them at all.

I made a lot of the chicken and berry dish. I don't even remember how much, just a lot.

Put cake in the breeding pen box it will not have a cooldown degradation at all and last forever until you feed it to a pal or breed

I feel like there needs to be an easier way to farm meats. Pre launch I assumed the ranch or breeding pen could be something ran by a pal who could just grind out lamballs and butcher them lmfao

Pancakes are the best overall choice. They have decent nutrition and restore 5 SAN while also having the passive to decrease SAN degradation. Low SAN makes the pals get sick and the materials for medicine are annoying to farm

I always Bake all my Berries and put them back in the feeder. So far never had a Problem. They also increase Sanity. Well.. Tombats are always depressive. Might be the Berries 😂😂

Best mine have to make do is baked berries and 2 bathtubs even at level 50..and the occasional mammoth meat when i farm for pal oil 😂

Make wheat farms buy milk from small village trader, only make pancakes it ensures their sanity stays up and keeps the fed and also with sanity high they never get injured. Less micromanaging and more time for you to go out and about to make money to buy milk.

They only eat until they get rid of the hungry signal. I envy those fkin pals, pal

i hate how long cakes take to make and hate that more than 1 pal can't help with it lol. hope they impliment an item to make cooking faster or something. i also didn't know pals ate from left to right. i was putting good food in there and they never ate it and i didn't know why lol

The food timers are ridiculous. How am I supposed to manage 3 bases of food baskets when the timer is slow low? Also, the fridge is too small, and you need 1 pal per station (fridge and cooler).. I don't get it.

Salad is the best. +84 nutrition and +11 san per item, simply make 2 lettuce and 2 tomato plantation, put them in the fridge, cook them regularly, and put salad on the feed box. you might think it would run out quick, but no it wont, i have 3 anubis, 2 astegon, 2 blazamut, 3 wumpo, 1 lyleen, 2 verdash, 1 orserk, and 1 jormuntide. it's more than enough to feed them all which most of them require almost maxed out food stats to fulfill. no more constant starvation, depression etc.

In fact Jam filled bun is the best to bring out in the world because of its 1h decay time.

They changed all the food stat bonuses in 1.3.0. From this video, jam toast lost its buff, salad is now work speed, marinated mushrooms is defense, pancakes help with SAN

I will still use pancakes, at least until i unlock better beds for my pals. Seriously, they should buff the cooking speed at least for the tier 3 recipe.

ppl craft food lol. im lvl 50 all legendarys and all my base palls still only get barries, its passive "income" no need to spend time micro managing their food at all, also for cake, later the electrical kitchen massively reduces cook time + the igniting thing for better fire efficiency reduces that by a bit also. dont waste you cakes on palls hunger - keep them eating berries use the cake for breeding. trust me you gotta need a looot of cake for perfect pals.

Take your pals from base put them in your team feed them baked berries till full.

Trying to explain why people should stop being lazy and relying on berries the past week has been so tiring.

Saw a guy using shiny gyarados with fire blast in either the pokemon movie or in his base in Palworld... Not sure which. ;P

You can reset the spoiling timer by eating the food yourself or feeding some to a pal in your party. You can also sell it to the merchant at the small settlement right before it goes bad for a little extra gold. I haven't tried selling spoiled food yet but I know he buys food at the very least.

Pancakes. Reduces rate of SAN dropping. Not hard to make. Put 500 in feed box and u good.

I will tell you what food is the best. From hours of testing. Don't get fooled by the nutrition. Pancakes are the way to go. The reason is that it has a boost to sanity loss. A team of 10 will eat 7 pancakes a day. Usually stops the taking a break, and sitting in the hot tub all day. A idle worker caused by stress is less work then everyone on work food. If you have traits and big beds, that makes your pal stay over 75% sanity a day. Then you can change food into work % food. Also think about your workforce. If you are using optimized workforce that is not insane on hunger. How ever what pisses me off, is all the content creators that don't test anything and say. Digtoise is the best miner. Digtoise has been bugged all along. where they can as a lvl 3 miner with collar, manage eat a lot and make 32 iron nodes a day. A standard 3 star, can make roughly 105 iron nodes a day. Anubis force keeps the food down, and 3x more iron. People been saying they are the best all over the place. But its a lie. They have been bugged since the day they came to life in 1.0. So don't swallow all the nonsense of people that don't test before putting it out. Food in your inventory, depends on what you need. If you have high defence, go for attack. If you have a bad team. Go for defence. If you fight opposite opponents, you need reduction. Don't need to be a rocket science for that. You will need 2x production to sustain a base usually. Depends how much you want to micromanage to get the pancakes. Bonus: there is also 2 standard pals in the game. That is the strongest fighters, due a multipliers. There currently isn't a difference in food when concerning Pals. They will eat anything and they are all fine with berries.

Soo many things broken on this game. Spend more time making work arounds for shoddy programming and poor foresight. Wolves will eat berries. I thought they only eat meat and there's no point to cook meat. This gsme is more about experimenting to find out how to make something work because it's broken.
