More discussions please you’re the only person who’s actually seen the show the way I do and out of all the surface reviews and criticisms it is great to have these long breakdowns and explanations and be able to discuss the good and bad about the effort the show makes to do these two justice

Ever since the series has come out, I’ve been watching interview after interview, and then commentary after commentary and I have learned a lot of Easter eggs in the show that I missed the first time I saw it. One was whenever she’s with Lord Debling she is dressed in Bridgerton blue. Also, in the third episode after Penelope finished her cupcake, it flashes to Colin finishing a bite of cake. Fire, increasing in intensity or decreasing has a lot to do with the strength of the Bridgerton couple connection. At the end of episode four, the lamp on Collins desk, the candle goes out. It’s like Penelope has finally resolved her feelings about moving on from Colin. It’s heartbreaking.

I don't know if it's important or not, but anyone noticed that Albion and Phillipa just kissed for two years and they tried the other stuff and were like "Oh. This is awesome." ?

Excellent recap of first part! I loved it! I thought they did a great job setting up the second half of the season. I am weary of the angst to come I hope they don’t sit in it too long. Both Pen and Colin are so funny and warm and I want to see them together this way.

I would’ve rather have more Anthony and Kate instead of the Mondrichs. They’re my favorite couple ❤

I was so disappointed in the development of their relationship. And I agree the romantic comedy parts were just not funny they should have played it with Colin being over the top jealous. That is really funny. So overall I just feel robbed

There is a teaser at the end of episode 4 for the remaining season. Looks like it will be heavily focused on the Whistledown of it all

I really hope you have more Bridgerton (TV) commentary, obviously part 2, but anything else you find interesting to / worth break[ing] down. I am a reader, so you’ve earned a subscription and I can’t wait to see what other works you review relevant to me. But I found your channel because of the show, and I’m not gonna lie, I teared up a little once or twice at your commentary. This is honestly the deepest / most intellectual analysis of the show so far that I’ve been able to find, and despite wont for a better expression, I’m here for it.

I wish we had seen more of Colin’s feelings towards pen. What changed? The kiss? I wish we could have seen him write in his journal and think about her.

Love this! I completely agree- I think Part 1 was like a whirlwind with so many ups and downs. Overall, I enjoyed it A LOT but there were things that could have been done better. Just a few thoughts based on what you said in the video:

I agree that a lot of the tension and angst is set up for part 2. The lack of Lady Danbury and Penelope interaction kind of punctuated how alone Penelope was in trying to be more active in her life, even with the lessons with Colin. So we can really see how there is no wiser older character to guide her like Colin has with Violet for example. Much like Cressida, she has to make her way with the examples she's been given at home. But I do hope we get at least one Danbury/Penelope interaction in part 2.

Something you touched on, but I feel deserves shouting out a thought for... I decided after reading Romancing Mr. Bridgerton again that I could not go into the show expecting a perfect adaptation. We all know this as readers that it is rare for an adaptation to "get it perfect", all we can hope for is that they capture the spirit. These versions of Colin and Penelope in the show are not the same as the book. So for me, I believe I enjoyed it much more than others might have because I am viewing them completely as a separate entity from book Polin and anytime even a hint or a glimpse of something from the book is utilized I am delighted. Those who have only watched the show vs those who have read the book have such different expectations from it, and I wonder if those who have read RMB would benefit from letting go of the book and jumping in to the world of viewing it only from the perspective of a viewer without prior knowledge if they are having difficulties with the changes. Difficult to do, I know! However it helped me. I was personally not bothered by Colin's escapades because it does show more of his personal struggles with feeling true intimacy and the expectations of men in their society. But I agree eith your comment "Colin discovers toxic masculinity" 😂 I think it is a welcome change from Colin's rather physical anger in the book. It may have been over the top at times, but it also is an effective way to show his trying to fit in, or "people please" as you mentioned.
