That & the fact that Maynard never included the lyrics in the liner credits as well as the way he stresses the syllables always made it challenging to understand exactly WHAT words he was saying let alone some of the deeper meaning contained there in.

Saw this live in Oakland CA in 96 and was just floored. They sounded so much better than any recording. My jaw was on the floor for the entire show. Of course I had dropped three liquid LSD drinched sweettarts and was peaking as this song came about. Fuck me. It was utterly beautiful and mesmerizing. And Maynard was half blue and half white with white boxers and using two mics right out front center. He was leading that crowd and had us all hanging on every lyric. It was magical.

I was a 15yr old 5'2 girl going with my big sis, got way intimidated by how tiny we were in a sea of excited bodies but spent the entire evening encircled by a leather clad gang of Bikers, protecting us from the heaving crowd because they could see we weren't quite brave enough to hold space. And they got emotional too with Maynard's voice. The best scene, the best core memory in my life. Thank you, and welcome new Tool fans. 😊

One of only a handful of shows where a recording, even through the best headphones, do not come near the live performance. I truly cannot express how impressive they are live. First tool song I ever heard back in the year 2000. Hearing someone else sing about how they wanted to see the world burn made me an instant fan.

Bought this albmn the day it came out....CD and tape. For almost 7 months, I listened to nothing but.... and it still has a huge emotional effect on me.

I remember on a particularly hard day in 2020 sitting in my parked car and blasting this on repeat. I get so better afterwards. I’ve always loved this song for the lyrics, but now they are just so current!

I've listened to too many tool songs too many times I don't even hear the brilliance as much as the expectation that it's just too damn good. These reactions are 👍 bc then I sorta remember
