I ran over a milwaukee m18 grease gun with a Cat 816F landfill compactor and the 5ah battery still works to this day, the grease gun was toast though cracked one of the magnets in the motor.

I'm interested to see more videos down the line on what it's like being a traveling contract mechanic! Especially since (based on the ring) you have a family and how you guys will balance the traveling for work life. I've been at a deere construction dealer for not quite 2 years and am leaving at the end of this week. I'm going to be a plant mechanic at an asphalt plant for a large asphalt and heavy highway construction company. Only thing I'm worried about is missing just wrenching on equipment like you said. Best of luck on your new adventure.
@theotherwhiteguy12 жыл бұрын
The schedule is 2 weeks on and 1 week off so I will definitely be making the most out of every min I’m home with the family. It’s coming to terms with the fact I’m gonna miss important stuff is what is gonna be hard.

Short term pain, long term gain. I'm 38 and have traveled in Healthcare for 7 years. I can now work part time the rest of my life because of the amount I made and saved, which I will be doing after my current contract. Going to the Philippines for 6 months to upgrade our property there.

Congratulations on the new job brother. My favorite 3/8 locking flex ratchet is the Matco unit. The handle is a good design but it's the lock that I like. I'm interested in getting a Snap On with the new lock. Although to be honest I do not use the lock that often. I'm like you, a little maintenence goes a long way. Edit. I'm a old Tech, ASE in 87 but wrenching since the mid 70s. I have all the new battery powered play things but I miss the sound of a shop full of air tools screaming. We use to buy these high flow QDs from a old hydraulic hose making shop. Waking up a air tool is exactly right. Make sure you have plenty of oil, she will need it.

The new snap on locking flex design has a fatter head, I’m gonna continue using my matco 3/8th’s and 1/4. And use half inch snap on tho, I trust them a bit more.

Nice tool set!! By the way yes there was/ is a security system chip key for the C model skid steers and simular machines. The key was yellow and was called the master key. You key on and Start the machine then shut off and had a timer so you could use a standard cat key. It took a differ switch and had to be programmed and configured on ET using factory passwords.

Love the Milwaukee power tools I love snap on I have is that same 3/8 gun you showed no one ever expects it to work for what I pull it out for but she does if a 3/8 can she can, the only other one I got snap on is the long 3/8 battery ratchet it’s sick outside of that can’t beat Milwaukee price and usually out perform snap on but I will admit the m18 high torque impact although I think the tool is the best the batteries always have issues and I know the snap on one doesn’t plus I’ve seen snap on snap off lug nut studs on a brand new F550 service truck which was prob wrong use for the tool but it does have power for sure Milwaukee prob would have done the same without breaking the stud but shows the snap on hits harder per impact hit

At the 5:00 minute mark you reference modifying your box. I am in 100% agreement. I just commented on another video the other day, asking why the auto techs seemingly refuse to do mods to their stuff. For clarity, I am an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Tech, not an auto or HE guy. I have about 6 boxes and all of them have been "adjusted" to fit the needs I had when I was using them. Once I outgrow that particular box, or I need something different, I just buy another box. LOL However, being in manufacturing, I do NOT buy Snap-On, Matco, Mac, or any of the expensive stuff. That may be the difference. When you work around almost 200 people, the chances of sticky fingers goes WAY up. I have 5 boys so, keeping the older boxes and tools makes sense to me.
@theotherwhiteguy12 жыл бұрын
Used snap on boxes and older matco boxes can be had for stupid cheap if you look hard enough. That’s what I’d do in your line of work.

Sweet rig, buddy! Ive got a Craftsman Industrial 36" roll cab and a variety of socket tools, mostly Craftsman but i do have some Snap-on, Mac, Matco, SK and others as well as the usual suspects for supporting tools like Knipex, Vice-grip, Channel-lock etc etc. I have 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive soc$kets, standard and deep, 6-pt and 12-pt and sizes 4mm thru 36mm, 3/16" thru 1-5/16". Ive got well over $15k in that rig. After having used my tools for 35+ years im beginning to wonder why? WHY? Why do i have EVERY size socket when i only ever use the common sizes like for metrics its 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 27, 32 and 36 mm? Its worse with standard sockets. I generally only use 3/16", 1/4", 5/¹6", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16" yada yada yada . I rarely if ever use the 32" or 64" sizes. Im beginning to think its probably better to just buy the sockets you use and skip those in between sizes. I think they only exist as a marketing ploy to buy the 236 piece set instead of the 100 piece. What say you, do you ever use those odd sizes?
@theotherwhiteguy12 жыл бұрын
Not very often. But I’m seeing now is more brands are using those odd ball sizes. Doesn’t hurt to have. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it

Hey love these videos. Hate the snap on pliers. They fucking rust if you look at them wrong. Something I do to them that works great is get a bottle of gun blue, and blue them fuckers. They won’t rust as easily, and the bluing will hold a little oil, just like black oxide tools, so they won’t rust really at all unless left out in the rain.
