I completely agree. And Im just gonna say it: We love Danny, but we don’t always need a percussive nonagon to prove how complex and “envelope pushing” the drums in a song CAN be. I feel like he ruined Adam’s haunting riff at the climax if the finished version with that ridiculous (albeit awesome) drum sequence. It goes back to the old adage “just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”

Agreed. I loved this instrumental version + Maynard's 'chanting'.

I think your missing the point... the more you tell people about it, the more questions that will be raised by other that didnt ask or even here the original question. But are still wanting to know about the album (that tool themselves spoke of) back in 2011. Long before it turned into an "event". So if they have mentioned it, prior to the intense public mocking and harrasment. Based on its sequencse in the series of events, couldnt you assume that the behaviour to follow, would be somewhat influenced by initial event? Then theres the issue of you trying to compare vastly different creative outlets like visually stimulating outlets such as painting and verbal or audible stimuli. To assume that an early century higher class citizen with genius artistic painting ability, would draw similar audience to a 21st century grudge/progesive rock/metal tidal wave. Then you compare 100+ year old society to our society. Assuming that the admirers of picaso are of same social evolution of our own. The only arguement that could be made it ATLEAST to an artist of our time. And show me this would famous '21st century' painter that doesn't have someone asking to see the painter lateast work, or questions of future endeavors. Your point does not hold solid foundation. Therefore you are in no position to critisis anyone else point. If picaso were alive today guarantee he would be getting hit up on instagram about when his next works gonna be out. And if he hinted and straight out said something was in the works this year for 7 or 8 years. You bet your ass people would be doing the same shit, in the 'artistics painters' kind of way. Good day sir!

One of the greatest bands with some of the worst entitled fans that feel like Tool owe them something.
@nickjohnson97046 жыл бұрын
Um, actually it's people in general that feel they're entitled... What about people that try to get autographs from movie stars, only to complain when they get rejected or unnoticed. Or all the men that will try to sexually exploit women? So if you want to talk shit about people... lump everyone in there together. We are all basically the same... "special snowflakes"... Like Tool fans are somehow worse? Besides Maynard sold his soul to make a record, and their deal is for 1 more... so YES HE DOES OWE US SOMETHING!
@upshot2112996 жыл бұрын
Nick Johnson- Ironically, your comment speaks for itself. I never lumped ALL fans of Tool into any categories but this feeling of entitlement you have, like the band owes you something is a commonly felt problem with their fan base. Just read the comments for proof. Tool are in there 50's, they're not the same kids they were when I seen them back in 1993. MJK has stated several times he's humbled by the cult like fan base they have but is finds this entitlement perverted. Tool/MJK owe you nothing, actually you should be the one that's thankful for what you have.
@scottybeats53286 жыл бұрын
as true fans we owe them. We wont learn if we don't listen :|
@nickjohnson97046 жыл бұрын
Jeff Haas- Unsurprisingly you missed my point completely. 1. Child actors get swarmed by grown adults that demand something out of them 2. I never said you lumped ALL TOOL fans into your comment, however, I suggested that you lump ALL crazy fans into it, because Tool is NOT the only famous group that has crazy fans... 3. Cult following... Other bands and groups actually have terms for their cult followers, Tool fans are simply Tool fans. Juggalos and Trekkies are two examples that come to mind. 4. Tool has a contract with a record label for 1 more album. So again yes they owe us 1 more since it's in their agreement. As awesome as Maynard is, he's kind of dumb for expecting that his fame would somehow be different than everyone else? And you're all dumb for thinking "Tool fans" are somehow worse than your typical enthusiast. I'll add: Go read comments for Dewalt, Ridgid, Milwaukee, Snap-on, and whatever other kind of tool you want... you'll find the same self entitled comments all over which are directed towards a product. PEOPLE are selfish period. Being a Tool fan has nothing to do with it.

There’s always more to listen to in the stuff that’s already out there. I revisited undertow and it blew me away again but much much differently because of where I was each time I dove into it in the past. Your now is ever changing and if you wait long enough and then go back and listen to old stuff, it speaks to a new self. Hopefully a more enlightened self so you can appreciate it “from a different angle, under a different light, so that hopeful you can see it almost for the first time....”it’ll need your help though, it’ll need your permission, so find a comfortable space that is not only comfortable, but vulnerable and if you shut your eyes and go there that old music will meet you yonyeeotherside, yonyeeotherside, yonyeeotherside....” and you’ll learn even more about yourself. It’s a tool that was created as a finite and unchanging product that is also ever lasting and ever changing depending on which you is the one listening to it at this moment .

It's apparent that the band Tool has never been about making money. They don't care about that. They believe, I am sure, that the good is the enemy of the best. There is no point to spreading a message that does not fulfill their intent. I'm grateful they take time and care into producing their music. One reason why they will always be my favorite band.

So glad that I saw TOOL and RATM in smaller more intimate venues when the rolled through NYC back in the day. A TOOL show has to be experienced to fully appreciate how amazing these guys are.

Love this band to pieces. Their material is unreal in genuine artistic expression. True artists.

Very cool. Different sounds for tool to us. I love Carey’s use of that reverb snare especially but all of his drum sounds are rlly cool. And his timing is always amazing.

Flippant As far as as far as Puscifer and A Perfect Circle go I would agree that all roads lead to Maynard. However with tool it's the four of them Adam Danny Justin and Maynard. When they changed the bass player lineup in put Justin in that was the true tool lineup. The band rights and composes the music for these tool songs long before Maynard ever gets to begin writing his lyrics so they all have a completely equal footing and it completely equal inspiration and a completely equal influence on how the album is going to turn out. So yes when Maynard touches something it turns to gold. Whether it be his contribution on the Tool album the things that he does with Puscifer and a perfect circle and when he makes wine everything he does turns to gold but with tool those four guys are equal there's no replacing any of those members at all and still have a true tool influence. And at the end of the day that's just my opinion have a good night.

Joshua Cragg ya they are good at building that anticipation up for sure amazing actually but I was referring to like waiting for ever for a pink Floyd album and then see why it took so long they don't put out crap. if you look at a video called "sober" 1987 you can see the rough draft of that song and why it took ten years too release.....he never stopped building it until it was a masterpiece
