tool cart tour. In part 1 I go over my tool cart. I work out of this box 98% of the time. And video part 2 of the main/overflow toolbox.

Great video! I am only a DIY mechanic. It is so nice to see someone who has affordable tools that the average guy can get his hands on. All the other toolbox videos I have seen are 20k worth of tools! I love how you organized them!

Thanks so much! I love the idea of owning the best of the best and thinking it will somehow make me a better technician but I know all of my tools have a lifetime warranty and that to me is just as good as a tool truck brand to me at least. 🤙🏼

This seems a well balanced box. Price vs. utility. We can't all have all snap-on and Knipex, and it seems you have choosen carefully; Nice Job

Since I have to take my tools back and forth from the racetrack... I'm constantly trying to figure out how much I can get done with as few tools as possible. Most of my chrome sockets and wrenches are mostly old Craftsman USA, Sunex impact, gearwrench ratchets, knipex pliers, vessel screw sticks. Any new sockets or wrenches are Icon. I rarely break anything but when I do I replace with Snap-on. I have three boxes; a small box with all my SAE. My main boxes that travel have everything I need, but only what I need, for the cars I'm wrenching on at the track... When I say "only what I need", I mean that if the car has no 16mm bolts, I don't take any 16mm sockets or wrenches. I have a 3rd box that stays home -- for all the metric stuff that doesn't travel. There are two reasons for this -- 1.) I need to be compact and as light weight as possible... 2.) When I'm working fast it helps to not grab a 16 when I need a 17 or 18.

Thank you for sharing that information. When I used to take the car out autocross I had a similar setup with only tools specific to the car I was driving. Made the box much more travel friendly.

Out of curiosity, what box do you travel with. I race in lemons and have always brought my US General small cart, but I was thinking of developing a packout setup
@InTunewithDave

@@yorktronic I used a husky toolbox similar to the pack out. It made for a good seat and step at the track too

@@yorktronic I'm still searching for the idea... but for now I'm using two of these. It's a tradeoff because I need to keep them light enough for me to lift (I'm not getting any younger.... and sometimes I carrying my tools in a Honda Fit with a bunch of Video Production gear . I often compete and produce content on the same weekend. So space is a premium. It's not ideal but it's what I've settled on for now.

That little drill you “do nothing with” is what in our shop is mainly used for your tpms sensors when changing the valve stem, and small stuff like that

How would you use that for TPMS sensors ? They are only supposed to be hand tight ?

I think people getting into this industry over estimate how many tools or how much you need to spend to get going into working on cars. A six drawer cart from harbor freight, especially now with the series 3 boxes gets you a lot of bang for your buck. Plenty of space, you can get probably enough tools in that small cart to get 75-80% of all jobs done. Great start on a set up. I'm about 6-7 year into the industry. Working on getting my toolbox all organized better then I'll hopefully get a video out.

Pro tip …don’t store the batteries in the torque wrenches while not in use
@InTunewithDave
@InTunewithDave 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I did talk to my rep and because they get used daily he said they should be fine without draining. I don't know if I have super batteries or what but my 3/8 has had the same batteries for 3 or 4 months so far and still running strong. Lol 🤙🏼

Yeah you're telling me lol. I actually am transitioning a few components around. I am currently testing out the alien space savers and Ernst wrench pro for my wrenches. And I really like the alien space savers for screwdrivers and pry bars etc. I just haven't found anything I like more than the tool grid for sockets. It's just so compact and secure.

During the time I wasn't working on cars professionally I was still working on my own and my friends and families cars. A lot of the tools you see are accumulated over the years just like any other seasoned tech. Granted there are some new tools in there too. Thanks for watching !
